It is true my husband can't find a job for nothing because of something he did more than 10yrs ago. He was a kid when he made his mistake but now a man an still paying for his mistake, even after completeing probation an all the rest.. Its crazy no one will hire them but complain when they go back to crime. What would you do when you can't put food in front of your kids at night??

I agree that if something is not done about this than everyone is right it will just lead all the ex offenders to lead a life that they used to live. Who is it really helping by punishing these first time offenders who realize what they did was wrong and now just want to live their life and help support their families! SMH. I just dont get it. I dont understand why its taking this long. I pray that they will realize what they are doing is wrong and hurry up and pass this bill that will help these ex-felons.

Stop perpetuating the misconceptions that felons should not be given a chance in society. How do you expect to reduce the recidivism rate when they have no choice but to go back to a life of crime. Make it a little easier, and I am sure the recidivism rate would decrease.

All first-time non-violent offenders deserve a second chance to regain their lives and support themselves and/or their families after their active sentences and probation terms are completed. Without changes in legislation to allow this to happen, we condemn all prior offenders to becoming dependents on government entitlement programs and inhibit their ability to properly support their families. This does nothing but contribute to our nation?s financial problems and creates a cyclical dependency on government services for future generations.

The "Zero-Tolerance" policy in this country is out of control. This bill is crucial to so many of our fellow citizens who just want to earn an honest living.

My fiance and I just had our first child and I would like to stay home and be a mother to him. My fiance has a felony charge from 9 years ago. He can't even get a job as a janitor or even work at the Goodwill.

I believe all first time offenders deserve the chance to get their rights fully restored. Bring them out of the helplessness they are in, for example a man who commited a felony at eighteen years of age and and can never own a gun and is continually getting laid off for having a conviction on his/her record, that is damaging to the person who has been threw the rehabilitation system. Do they lack the ability to rehabilitate people, we are all forcing offenders into a rut that is unfair and cruel. Fellow countrymen and women who cannot get their feet back on the ground because of the unforgiving laws that trail them. In my thoughts to felons getting full restorations there needs to be a standard in trust given back to them. How else can a felon regain what was lost through the court, how can anyone look at the record of a felon rehabilitated and say you are not trustworthy any more and forever, it is a hidden penalty for people released from a rehabilitation institute to return back to a community were they are labelled worthless and given places as less than others and forced to live in hiding from the shame handed down to them. Men and women who lost everything they had and are re-crucified apon release, this is one evil in our country that has to change. Whatever happened to covering someones mistakes so they don't feel so untrusted and dishonored by their own brothers and sisters in the community.

I believe we all deserve a chance to do right what we didn't the first time around. People are human and they make mistakes! We need to be offered a fair chance!

I was Convicted of a felony in 07. I am still fighting for a decent job. I am a non- violent felon an havent been in any trouble an obtain some licenses an G.E.D. They make it so hard for people that made that one bad choice to obtain a good job to support our familys. Most of us deserve a second chance

I think a person who has a federal felony should get a second chance in life by being able to have their felony expunged.

I am the wife of a convicted felon and its crap that he cant provide a good life cause of something done years ago. I understand what he did was wrong and I believe he has justly served his time and repaid his debt so why should the family suffer from the stigmata of a felony on his record for the rest of our lives. Lets get this thing signed and done.

I also was convicted of a felony over 15yrs ago, non violent a might ad, not that I am any better than anyone else just making a point, completed a 3yr. stay in the states penn. got out with my G.E.D. and completed another 2yrs on parole which was almost 9yrs ago and still have trouble finding a "GOOD" job. `My options for being an EMT, Nurse, Firefighter or the likes is out not even counting I had always wanted to be in the Military as I would have been 3rd gen. or in Law Enforcement but my ability to land any of these is out the door because of something I did over 15yrs ago? Nonsense!!! I am a good person and deserve a shot at being a cop or Marine or whatever I choose!!!! I have never been in any trouble since and believe there are many of us who deserve a second chance to prove we can be a productive member of this great America. What gives? Please help us get this bill passed and maybe just maybe we can really enjoy the work that we could be doing for once in our life. Sincerely Regretful, Darrin S. Rogers Nashville,Tenn

i was convicted of a drug possession charge in 08. I was sentenced to 3 years probation which i completed and since then acquired my GED and am currently attending college to become a nurse but am afraid my conviction will stop me from being accepted into a nursing program. I tried to do volunteer work recently at a local clinic and was asked about any felonies, its out of hand and we need real help as a society! People who at least show they want a second chance should have the means to do so!
