Most people commit crimes when they are young. Many commit crimes to eat, and other's commit crimes just because. I believe it's more than a 2nd chance when you serve your time, taught to obey laws, and respect others. The reason people go to jail is to pay for the crime. They deserve this fight, and they (we) deserve our place in society, and our chance to do work.

I have known and worked with many ex- offenders over the years. They are good hard working people. They deserve a second chance. For God's sake this is 2012 and this is the United States of America. pass this bill please.

I dont understand why this bill is having such a hard time passing. When u get convicted they always say you should do as much as possible to show your remorse and rehabilitation. Yet when your obligation is fulfilled and you have done all they tell you you are still scarred for life. If you have a nonviolent felony you should get a second chance. Only one mistake and years since it happened. Please give us another chance

Even God gives us a second chance. You can't get a good job or even life insurance regardless of how many degrees you have.

This is the right thing to do. It is not right to punish them and their families for life.

I was granted Restoration Of Civil Rights in 2005 by Mark Warner. People who have been granted a Pardon or a Certificate of Rehabilitated also should have their record automatically sealed. Robert Kennedy Jr. in 1983 enter a plea of guilty for having 183 milligrams of herion, after the completion of his sentence the judge had his offence sealed and expunged in South Dakota. Everyone deserves the same chance as he was given.

If I knew what I know now... I probably would have tried to get a real lawyer vs. public defender, and tried harder to not have a FEDERAL 1st time non-violent felony. Which they (public defenders and justice system) make sound ok, and I thought I could have it sealed or expunged like other people I have read about and know throughout history have done. Yet I didn't know It was only available for state level offenses.. :( They DO NOT explain HOW LIMITING a single 1st time non violent federal felony really is. If I understand correctly, I can not run for office and try to fix things, I cant be a licensed electrician? or any trade really.. certain degrees they let you get but you cant use them?? whats the point? ex. Architect. I have 81 credits in a program that I possibly cant do a thing with now.. where is the motivation to try and do anything?? I have a hard time getting ANY job. I deliver pizza's part time and try to get better jobs but apparently I cant.
