I am living proof a Lifer can be given a 2nd chance and be a productive member of society again. I served 31 years of a life sentence in New Mexico. I am also the ONLY lifer who has been released in this State since 1980. I was paroled 4 years ago, own my own business, which is steadily growing, and am respected by my Parole Office. I was released, but no one else has been. That needs to change.REPORT COMMENTS

I have a brother incarcerated over 32 years ago been to parole several times still no release date. Was given 15 to life. I went to parole hearing in Sacramento last week spoke in front of panel got no response. By 5 pm that same day got news he was denied for 3 more years. Been there since he was 21 years old .Hes under youth offender bill. Should have a date by now and nothing . We live in the best country in the world .That has most people in prison in the world. My son, Brian Scott Gibson, GDC# 835140 was sent to prison in 1995. He was sentenced to life in prison, plus 40 years with parole. He has gone up for parole two times & been denied. He has taken all of the required classes & some that were not required to be the best inmate & the best free man he can be. He has a wide & two children & he also has 5 sisters & brothers that will support him in any & every way possible when he is released. Brian Scott Gibson has been accepted in the Right Way Wrong Way LLC & he will be housed at their facility immediately upon release. This program will assist him in making a transition from prison back to society. Right Way Wrong Way provided the several components needed to make this a successful transition. Comprehensive case planning will be provided for Brian Scott Gibson also. Right Way Wrong Way will assist him in obtaining identification, employment, housing & transportation. Brian will be attending The Real Talk sessions which are held on Thurdays from 6pm to 8pm. During the sessions, he will be attending the classes that are held in Anger Management, Conflict Resolution, Problem Solving, Relationships, Parenting, Financial Literacy, & Critical Thinking. Brian will also be involved in the Ten Steps Rites of Passage, curfew checks, drug screens & community service detail & this is MANDATORY. He will also be involved in mentoring & counseling. Please give my brother a 2nd chance, please give people parole dates, give them something to look forward to, my brother has completed every program there is, he committed his crime at the age of 17 and 27 yrs later he's still in there, got denied parole without a reason, hes in a private prison and i believe they want to keep people because the state pays so much money to the private prisons for inmates, its modern day slavery, there's no real reason that hes still in there, hes a changed man! let him out so he can live a little before hes too old to enjoy life. everybody wants god to forgive them, but the State of Georgia wants to punish people forever! something needs to be done, NOW!!!!!!REPORT COMMENTS
