They are serving our country. Why should they have to pay to connect with the real world?

The first time my husband was deployed we spent about $100-$200 a month on charging his calling card for him to be able to call home. $50 would buy approximately 1,000 US minutes, but only 250 international minutes. It makes me sick that with everything these soliders sacrifice for their country, and the businesses and citizens within it, that they have to pay anything to be able to contact their family. It's bad enough the insane rates they get charged for phone calls, but now internet too!? This is disgusting.

I think that our soldiers shouldn't have to pay a dime to connect with their families. They are doing enough for this country by leaving their children, wives and other family behind. Now we are going to charge them to connect with them. Why don't we just take the rest of the little pay they get too. I am an Army wife and this makes me sick.

I'm currently deployed to Afghanistan right now as well. For us to have to pay $100 a month to have internet service in our barracks is ridiculous! No one even steps in to lower the or to help offset it. Thanks Congress.

It is bad enough many people do not even recognize the sacrifices these soldiers are willing to make for our freedom that so many people take for granite. Yet in return they can't even get free internet to keep in touch with their loved one's who help keep their spirits high and give them the support they need. To top it off the internet they do pay for doesn't even work half of the time. These soldiers deserve more than what they are getting recognized for. My brother was in the Marines and my boyfriend is currently serving his second tour in the Army, I think this is the least we could do for them!

I am a Soldier serving on my fourth deployment. We always have to pay for internet and tv if we want the service. I am a Lt and can handle the cost but we have lower ranking Soldiers who want to stay in touch with family members and need a large chunk of money to do so. Still the money I spend could be useful for my family as well. Everyone please help in any way you can. Thank you
