Financial Distress shouldn't mean life of Anguish and Financial Ruins
It shouldn't matter what your last name is, what school you went to, the side of town you grew up on, your religious beliefs or even your ethnic background, but sadly it does. Everyday Americans get up get their kids ready for school, and head to work so they can provide for their family. And everyday is never a guarantee to be the same as the last. It doesn't matter what job you have, the company you religiously clock in and out to everyday, or even that job title you so proudly earned. But the truth to the matter is? That job is not a guarantee that it will be there for you tomorrow or a month from now. Sadly, all them long hours, the missing of birthdays and your children's school events are just a few things to sacrifice when trying to make ends met. But as a parent you want to do more then just the essentials, work some overtime or whatever it takes to make your children happy. You have a nice house and vehicles, kids wearing nice clothes, just a ordinary family trying to live a ordinary life just like the next family. But all this> the house, car, clothes, etc. Believe it or not does not come free, its something called credit that gets you these things, unless you are one of the lucky one's in which everything is handed to you. but unfortunately that wasn't the case with me. Not because my parents didn't want to help me but to learn responsibility, and that is what made me the person I am today, work for what you got & want, nothing is handed to you. So to get the house, cars, clothes, pretty much anything now days most likely credit is involved in some way! Then when you lose your job all the sudden for whatever reason all these loans and credit cards you been using will now be deciding what your future outcome will be, homeless, credit so bad you will never get a load again, suicide, divorce, embarrassment, they don't care and the government backs them 100%. Cant make a payment charging you a very high late fee, pay something but not the minimum, we will charge you late fees, interest rates so high your payment will not even be recognized you even made one. They don't care about your situation, because it doesn't happen to them which means it don't happen at all. They pretty much get away with legalized robbery. they can change rates at any time and nothing you can do about it. You take advantage of some programs they offer like credit protection, credit monitoring just to name a few. But when it comes time to use any of them benefits they decline you saying you don't fit the situation.You payments have been 99% , always paid your bills, do everything you can to keep your creditors happy, for what? They don't give a damn about you. I lost my job September 1 2022 . The first thing I did was get in touch with my credit card companies to tell them. I got nothing but not our problem please make your payments. I did for the first couple months what i could afford. When I started looking over my bills and what I payed didn't do a thing but throw money away. I asked for credit protection that i enrolled in and they deny me so I keep asking for the approval since I Signed up for it and I kept getting denied. I have wrote letter, called the companies and everything I can think of and non what to help, all I'm getting is harassing phone calls non stop, threatening letters and everything else you can think of. Seems they are trying harder doing all those things then they are in helping me. I'm now getting letters for being sued and the sad thing is I'm only a month or so behind on these bills. They want to hurt me by hitting my credit all the time and charging me for something I have no control over and its a constant charging of my credit card bills. When I do go back to work I am being threaten about garnishment. My wife has been on fmla and in Illinois she can not get unemployment , so its just me getting income , and again the state unemployment is giving me 120.00 every week. that is under 5 hundred a month. I was making that in a few days before I lost my job, we had saving but its all gone trying to pay bills like the credit cards that is never a good enough amount for them. So instead of these companies trying to help they want to make me go into bankruptcy which will not help me or the economy . Bankruptcy is so high in the United States it makes it seem like its alright to do. I think credit companies should be liable for what they do to peoples credit and way of life.They literally have the power to ruin someone financially , rather or not they will be homeless, or if they will just lose everything. How does companies have that much power? why is it up to them to choose our future, because we fell financially behind. It's like you condone what they are doing and allowing them to be "new aged gangstas" I've lost some loved ones over credit card debt to suicide, which will lead to that with the constant harassment and threats from these creditors. People cant predict the future and try to do the best we can, the government needs to back their citizens and stop the bullying credit card companies. Homelessness, bankruptcy, suicide, and other causing illnesses, mental problems would drop . But instead you are letting these companies control peoples lives and future outcomes. For once stand for something that's right, be there for the citizens of the USA. Or sit back and watch more lives being destroyed and ruined beyond repair by these companies. I sadly am about to lose everything, I’m now so far behind on my bills I don’t see any way to get caught back up, especially the credit card bills. I’ve already almost been evicted from my house, I’m behind on my car payment, you name it I’m behind, and when I tell the credit card companies they pretty much laugh and say not my problem, you not pay credit card bill will be problem. I’m to the point of no return and or mentally breaking down. I’ve never been in a situation like this before and I can say it’s scary and something I hope people don’t have to experience.
