The "penalty" in cost mentioned above does not include increased co-pays and deductibles of FEHB compared to TRS. This savings if extended to National Guard and Reservist would, in my opinion, would assist in retention of those individuals as some leave or are discouraged to join the federal work force so they can be able to afford healthcare for their families.

This bill should pass. There should be no difference in the option for health care. Technicians earn the right for the same health care options as their fellow guardsman and guardswomen.

I've been with Blue Cross/Blue Shield since being hired as a federal technician 5 years ago. That means I've paid approximately $20,000 more than my counterpart. I hope somebody got good use out of it, Lord knows I could have.

I agree that Guard/ Reservists should be able to use TRS even though they are eligible for FEHB.

Guards/Reserve members should not be punished on health insurance just because they happen to be in the guard/reserve.

How bout get rid of these dumb programs & let us be able to use the federal medical like as on active duty. we are still paying for it every month out of our check but are only able to use these if on duty for those 2 days a month. so we get charged the same as on active duty but only allowed to be covered for 2 days a month. thats bull shit.
