Health care reform and deficit reductions should not come at the expense of cancer patients seeking cure.

This cuts can be devastating for cancer patients since many facilities will not be able to keep their doors open due to these massive cuts. As a country we are pushing for all Americans to have access to medical care; creating such decreases in payments will limit that access!

This bill will eventually kill all free- standing cancer centers in America! Don't loose access, choice and quality for your constituents. Small business and small doctor practices are the life blood of American medicine.

These proposed cut to Radiation Oncology and devastating to both the physicians and the patients. All patients should have access to cancer care, whether for pain or for cure and it should be convenient for them.

If these proposed cuts move forward as planned, it means a %40 decrease in revenues for my office and most offices in the couontry. This decrease forces us to run at below costs. It really means that we and most other offices will have to close. We can no longer provide care to the people of Prince Georges, Montgomery County Maryland. Nor can offices elsewhere provide care to their population.

To be successful, in the very personal war against cancer, each patient must have access to the full range of cancer therapies, to cure cancer, to control the growth of cancer, or to relieve pain and other cancer symptoms. It is imperative that the continued achievements of various cancer care therapies be made available to all Medicare patients. I believe this statement says it ALL.

Access to radiaiton therapy treatment for cancer patients must remain close to the patient's home. It is our experience that patient's will refuse treatment if forced to travel more than 20 miles from thier home. Travel causes loss of income to thier family member who has to leave work to drive them. They also lose emotional support if away from family and friends.

The suggested cuts pertaining to cancer treatment with radiation will result in closure of many facilities particularly those in more rural/suburban locations if implemented. Our group and many others have tried to deliver radiation care in a location convenient for patients. The long course (several weeks or a few months), side effects and related concerns are much more effectively addressed by locations convenient to their homes.

Understand, when we purchase equipment we are looking at reimbursements. We buy what only what is needed to cure cancer with as little side effects and the best quality of life outcome. These cuts will result in two things up front, centers won't get the equipment needed because they won;t be able to pay for it. and the side effects will increase causing more patients to require more medical assistance, stop spending a dollar to save a penny. The proposed cuts to Radiation Oncology are devastating. If enacted these cuts will severely impair my ability to provide Radiation Cancer services to my patients, and will in all likelyhood cause 1 or more of the centers in which I practice to close.
