It is extremely unfair to the law abiding, tax paying and an educated community to be targeted. We pay the same tax as others, in fact more than the illegals and yet there is no discussion of our issues. Such treatment only compels the talent to look elsewhere for opportunities. What is even more horrendous is the continuous extensions. It is ironic that a nation built by immigrants, has such a lame immigration policy. It is ironic that a nation claiming to be advanced takes 6 months to extend a visa. It is pitiful for a nation to crush the dreams of it's law abiding residents. - The Most Modern Slave Why shouldn't I take my skills elsewhere?REPORT COMMENTS

I pay taxes, educated and came into this country through a legal route. Wonder what message US govt wants to send by blocking legal tax paying immigrants and allowing illegal immigrants. Not to pay taxes or come in illegally?REPORT COMMENTS

I came to the USA because it is supposed to provide freedom to people. Not so much for highly-skilled immigrants from India. 5 years into my current job, and I cant move to a better offer just because my Green Card process will come under jeopardy. With current 12 years of wait times, there is no freedom - a pseudo bonded labor with the current employer who happily exploits us.REPORT COMMENTS

I have been here for more than 17 years now, have a master's degree in STEM with 14+ years of experience in IT field. I can't for the life of mine understand why I need to wait 10+ years to get a green card! I have pay my taxes like others from European countries etc and yet I have to wait forever and they don't. I have no idea why you'd even call this a fair system. In spite of all our pleas, I seriously doubt you'll take any action! Cause we have not much of a choice, and we will wait as we have invested a heck a pot of time, money and energy. So you gonna exploit us. Thanks!REPORT COMMENTS

The legal immigration system has become a backlogged puddle, even for highly skilled immigrants like physicians and scientists.REPORT COMMENTS

Have been in the States for about 11 years now and am in the EB2 category. A probability calculator states that I my application will be current in about 2027. That is simply insane. Will all the talk about illegal immigration when will the legal immigrants get any attention? We work hard and contribute to the economy and pay our fair share of taxes. We are not asking for an automatic Green Card or Citizenship but there should be some practicality in the process.REPORT COMMENTS

Dear Mr. President and US Congress: I am in USA for last 11+ years. My GC was initiated in Aug, 2010 in EB2 category from India and have 140 approved. Since then it has been 6 years and there is no certainty about the future. This is a really bad situation for my carrier and other future aspects. Please do something soon about this. Thanks BSREPORT COMMENTS

Current wait line is 50+ years for skilled immigrants in EB2 & EB3 Categories for people born in India and China. Modernizing the Employment Based Immigration needs to be given the highest priority to ease the sufferings of the law abiding, tax paying employees to get their LPR status approved.REPORT COMMENTS

I am now completing my 14th year here in the US. I am a ?Gamecock? at heart and dad of two US citizens. I recently read an article from CATO.org mentioning that it might take 10+ yrs for folks like me to get my GC. I don't even have words to explain this situation. Legal immigration reforms for high skilled immigrants should be on the front-line and de-coupled from the reforms for illegal immigrants for all pragmatic reasons. US is predominantly a knowledge economy and the laws must reflect the same if we want to live up to world?s expectations.REPORT COMMENTS
