Came to USA on 2001. Took time to settle down. Still on EAD and waiting on GC. Lot of frustration.Jan 6th, 2017Eric V. from Salt Lake City, UT signed.

I totally agree. People wanting to work in niche areas are restricted because the positions are only open to GC. What concerns me is that there is no predictability on the GC issue. It would definitely help lot of people, including me, to have clear path to citizenship.REPORT COMMENTS

There should a major change in Law such that at least real skilled and merit people who come abroad spend thousands of dollar towards American schools and American economy should be given Green card. and Yes someone Told Below "All are equal In eyes law , we pay taxes as everyone then why their is discrimination in giving green card on country basis" is totally true. It should be Fed's duty to control number of people and we cannot suffer for that mentioning based on country and number of people unltimately not giving green Cards for ages. America, is great country so Kindly understand the GC back logs and problems people are facing todayREPORT COMMENTS

I wish whoever is our next President be it Hilary or Trump see the amount of value skilled workers in H1 category bring in to US. They are not only highly educated, they also make sure their kids are educated correctly with guidance and discipline so they become adult citizens of US with academic valuye. Yet their own lives are at stake. For someone who has gotten their Bachelors degree and then Masters and have worked in a company for 10 years, Green card is still waiting to be given. Atleast provide them with unlimited EAD's to these candidates when their I-140's are approved. This has caused stunting in their professional and personal growth. Due to green card rules, they cant move up. EB 2 and EB 3 are no less than 20 years a piece to get green cards. I came to US in 2000 and still dont have my green card, I am from India. Whereas people who came with me in my undergrad from Nepal tanzania, sri lanka all have their green cards and now on their way to become citizens. This is downright unfair. Its like prejudice based on nationality. I wish they will change and bring some serious reform. I am looking into moving to europe because of this slow process. My life is not moving anywhere.REPORT COMMENTS

Thousands of people cannot agree more on this statement. "Today the immigration debate has been hijacked by low-skilled and illegal immigrants, numbering in millions, because, for these few thousands there is no political voice backing them up"REPORT COMMENTS

Because of these green card delays, foreign-born high skilled professionals have been treated like slaves by employers. We cannot change jobs because we are tied to the sponsoring employer for decades and simply have to withstand the ill-treatment meted out to us by our employers.. We are a perfect example of modern day slavery.REPORT COMMENTS

The system was designed to keep white majority in the US population. That was the reason why they had decided to introduce fixed number of green cards for people born in each country.REPORT COMMENTS

It is easier for Europeans to get employment based (EB) green card in the US because very few people from those countries apply for such EB green cards. The problem is faced only by India, China, Philippines and Mexico. The reforms would have taken place a decade ago if these problems were faced by Europeans. The truth of the matter is Americans are not bothered by the immigration problems faced by non-Europeans.REPORT COMMENTS

Please remove country-specific annual limits for issuing employment-based green cards. There is no logic behind having a yearly quota for each country for green cards. Like all other visas, employment-based green cards must be given on first-come-first-serve basis until the yearly cumulative target of green card numbers is met.REPORT COMMENTS

Extremely unfair for immigrants who are legally staying, paying taxes, abiding by all rules and providing documentation at all stages . Still after 7-8 years of living in a country, we cant say we are settled here because you never know what will happen at port of entry or in stamping. Its ridiculous that we have to go through so much trouble and wait forever to know if we are going to live in this country or not. If not GC at least an EAD option should be given so that people can be at peace because not just career, but personal life and is also at stake for us because of these issues.REPORT COMMENTS
