E Pluribus Unum is what this country was founded on. United we stand, divided we fall. With the current motto the country is segregating itself on religious principles, which is yet another thing that the founding fathers wanted to prevent.REPORT COMMENTS

"E Pluribus Unum" excludes nobody. "In God We Trust" was always meant to separate people, always rooted in a divisive "Us vs. Them" attitude originally aimed at the Communists but arrogantly assuming that everyone in America worth representing was Christian. It's time has passed. It's time to move forward with "From Many, One."REPORT COMMENTS

For me, the importance of this is in the need to be inclusive of all people. The current motto is very exclusive and was born out of fear. It has been used as a bully club against others. We need to cast off the McCarthy era fear and terror tools and embrace the inclusive nature our founding fathers intended.REPORT COMMENTS

I strongly support the original motto, E Pluribus Unum, that unifies the American people vs. dividing us based on belief or nonbelief in a deity.REPORT COMMENTS

I don't think the belief in a deity is condusive to making laws or enforcing laws. This is a personal belief that I don't mind someone believing. If someone believes carrying a bible passage in their pocket or praying for guidance helps then that's perfectly fine. When it is plastered all over the place, including police cars these days, it makes me wonder if this country is capable of accepting everyone as free and equal citizens. "E Pluribus Unum" is an all inclusive motto, that brings everyone together as one nation. It doesn't put off this mantra that only one group of people matter like "in god we trust" does.REPORT COMMENTS

As Jennifer G. stated and I agree with 100% " I request that our national motto be restored to E Pluribus Unum, a unifying phrase that respects all Americans and honors the intent of our nation's founders."REPORT COMMENTS

'One out of many' is inclusive, 'In God we trust' is divisive. The Cold War is over, it is time we put away such small-minded thinking and return to being proud of being Americans together, rather than constantly fighting amongst ourselves via political parties and special interest labels.REPORT COMMENTS
