We must maintain a separation of church and state. No god should have any mention in government affairs.

I want Congress to restore "E Pluribus Unum" to its rightful, historic, and Constitutional status as the official motto of the United States. America was established as a secular nation by our founding fathers, and they intended that church and state be strictly separated. The current motto of "In God We Trust" violates that original intent. I am a secular humanist, and do not believe in any supreme being. The current motto is offensive to me, as it is definitely seclusionist in nature -- not inclusionist as our founding fathers intended. I urge you to vote to change our national motto back to "E Pluribus Unum". Many thanks!

In this country, we are supposed to be allowed to practice the religion we wish to practice, or not practice. The only thing the current motto does is allow people to use it as a justification for discriminating against those that believe differently. This is not what this country was meant to be.
