How about you and I collecting a $6,000 federal income tax refund, while getting rent assistance, gas/electric assistance, food stamps AND medical assistance. Your husband sits home (because that's the only way they can get all this assistance,) and the wife works "part-time" (20 hrs a week) So they can maintain that assurance of all the "government help." That $6,000 should be held by the government in repayment of all the assistance that was given to them. If that doesn't rub salt in the wound to all you people out there, I don't know what will! Now my husband and I have worked all our lives (40+ years) and I don't know about YOU, but we have NEVER EVER gotten an income tax refund like that! AND that's just from the Federal govt., they also received a hefty state tax refund. You do the math. How in God's green earth did someone who only works 20 hrs a week receive a $6,000 income tax refund when they most likely never even MADE that much in a year? Someone please help me here, I just don?t understand and I KNOW this to be a fact. There most definitely needs to be a time limit on the length of time allowed to collect welfare. Six months to one year tops. I know of several people who are "generation welfare collectors" It's their way of life and they KNOW (since it's in the family) exactly how to milk the system. It's got to STOP!!! I have worked my whole life to get what I have and I am sick and tired of our politicians handing out Mine and your hard earned money to free loaders who want to be "life time recipients of MY hard earned money." Let them work the jobs the Mexicans have and no-one wants, they don?t want those jobs, because the "lazy Americans" don't want to earn their paychecks, they want it handed to them. The Mexicans will work from dusk till dawn, and do so with a commitment like no other, and are as happy as can be to have a job. I for one, can't complain about anyone obtaining a job when we make welfare, and all the other free handouts, so easily available to the welfare recipients. -

Welfare should only go to those who really need it but just to help them get back on their feet. It should NOT go to those who don't want to work because they get more from welfare than if they got a job.REPORT COMMENTS

If I have to be tested to get and keep a job, then they should be tested to get welfare. Then they should be tested periodically to stay on it and this way they can go and apply for a job.REPORT COMMENTS

There needs to be a time limit on welfare in addition to "being clean". It sucks that you might have to work two part time jobs just to get by but there are lots of people doing it and not collecting one cent from the government.REPORT COMMENTS

I too am sick and tired of the criminals having the upper hand in this country. Most of us have to submit to drug testing for our jobs that pay for the welfare system, they should submit to drug testing to collect welfare. There are only a small handfull of people that really need to collect welfare. The vast majority are criminal scumbags sucking off the system. Unfortunately, our bleeding heart America encourages them, and welcomes them with open arms. How pathetic.Put an end to the free ride.REPORT COMMENTS

I am tired of paying for my neighbors to suck goverment money that I pay into so they can buy pot and beer and then ask me for 20 bucks to get diapers and milk for their babies, that we all paid for on medical. Wheres my hand out I work for a living, have to do pee test to keep my job, why don't you test them and if they have time to get stoned why can't they work, better yet call them for jury duty so the rest of us don't have to take unpaid work time off.REPORT COMMENTS

This will go no were as long as we have idiots in office. They want us to become dependent on government assistance to ensure we vote democratic. Only option is to vote them out,..If you like democrats that's cool no heartburn here,..but take a good long look at the divide forming in our country. And look at things like THE TOPIC,..we are talking about drug testing folks on welfare,..democrat or republican,..left or right,..how can you think this a bad idea?REPORT COMMENTS

I had to pass a drug screen to get my government check, and I am still subject to random drug and alcohol screening (which happens a couple times a year). I think they should drug test for food stamps!! I work in the grocery retail and i see how these people come in and buy steaks and crab legs while i'm eating vienna sausages and macaroni and cheese for lunch. I live week to week on my pay check and most of it goes toward my rent. I don't even break nowhere near $300.00 a week. They say i make to much money. I have hard enough time trying to pay my electric with only $50.00 a week left out of my check if i even have that. Not to mention, food, gas to get to work and personal needs. I know someone right now manipulating the system to get child support and can get the hours to work and doesn't live where she says she lives and pays no utilities, rent and goes and gets her nails done and goes to bars to shoot pool and drink and leaves her child with a sitter while she does this. The father, who is my son, takes him every other week and keeps him for a week. Pays for his day care for the week that he has him. Buys his clothes and food. Takes him to the doctor when needed. But yet she filed for child support so she could keep her benefits. He's probably one in a million who actually takes responsceability for his child. Everywhere he goes his son goes with him. But yet, he gets stuck with paying child support for his son because the mother won't get off her*****get more hours to help support her child and live off the state. But then the state wants to take away your liscense for not paying child support which makes it hard to pay when you have no way to get to work or work because your job requires you to have one to drive company vehicles. But, that's something else you need to revise to is the child support. There are some fathers out there that do take care of their kids and shouldn't have to pay for child support when they have them 50% of the time. Not 51%. But 50%..REPORT COMMENTS
