I strongly agree they should drug test people who get public assistance. I know someone who has been getting all the public assistance (welfare, food stamps, medicaid, ssi, disability, section 8) for at least 11 years. The reason she gets ssi and disability is because she stoled a drug dealers crack and the guy found her and beat her in the head. All this lady does is drugs, she has been reported a many, many times but social services does nothing. Her head injury is not nearly as bad as she says it is, she just tells the doctors that and ssi that so she can get free money, She is very much able to work. She also has 5 warrants for her arrest in 5 different counties back from the 1990's. I t really ****es me off that she gets away with so much, and still gets all the public assistence she wants, so I am 100000% for drug test. If anyone as any more advice for me on what to do about her let me know, Thanks

I, AS A UNION LABORER AM SUBJECT TO SPOT TESTING...IF ALCOHOL IS SUSPECTED, I CAN AND WILL BE GIVEN A BREATH TEST....IF AN INJURY OCCURS...IM OBLIGATED TO A 10 PANEL OR BLOOD TEST AND BREATH TEST! THIS IS A MANDATORY TERM IN OUR COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT AND AS A CONDITION OF CONPANY EMPLOYMENT! THEREFORE I FEEL THAT IF I, AS A TAX PAYING, HARD WORKING AMERICAN AM REQUIRED TO REMAIN DRUG AND ALCOHOL FREE, THEN THOSE LAZY, LEACHING, DRUG ABUSING, DRUNKEN CRIMINALS THAT MAKE A CAREER OF WORKING THE SYSTEM SHOULD BE SUBJECT TO THE SAME!!!! THERE SHOULD BE NO WARNING, AS WITH ME, THERE SHOULD BE NO CONCESSIONS, IF YOU FAIL, YOURE DONE!!! NO QUESTIONS ASKED! IF YOURE ON ANY NARCOTIC MEDS, IT BEST BE ABLE TO BE PROVEN ON THE SPOT THAT THESE ARE YOUR RX AND THATS FINAL!!! IM SICK TO DEATH OF BUSTIN MY*****TO PAY PHENOMINAL TAXES TO SUPPORT CRIMINALS WHO EXTORT THE SYSTEM! I LOST MY DAMN MIND!!! THIS IS JUST 1 OF MAAAANY STORIES OVER THE YRS!!! NOW...ILL BE DAMNED IF THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO GENUINELY NEED ASSISTANCE AND CANT GET IT BECAUSE THE SYSTEMS CORRUPT N ALLOWS FOR CRIMINALS TO EXTORT N WORK IT....THIS IS THEIR JOB...AND GOD DAMMIT I WORK TOOOOO HARD N PAY TAXEZ THRU MY*****TO ALLOW CRIMINALS TO LIVE LARGE ON MY DIME!!!! THIS GOEZ FOR WIC, SECTION 8, FOOD STAMPS, HOUSING, MEDICAID....ALL SHOULD B SUBJECT TO UNANNOUNCED, UNCONDITIONAL SPOT TESTING! I think it is ridiculous that the people who really need the help from the government and have proven that they work hard and just need that little bit of help to get back on their feet keep getting denied. When there are drug addicted people walking into welfare offices gettin food stamps, insurance, and whatever they need. Someone please tell me how that makes sense, and why we continue to support these people who are abusing the system.

My husband and I are now experiencing the nightmare of trying to recieve so-called "help" from welfare. I've become diabled and haven't been able to work for two years and my husband is currently laid off, we have one child left living with us out of five. I'm 50, my husband's 43 and this is the first time we're asking for help. Have been denied all but a small amount of food stamps, while witnessing drug addicts going there to the welfare office and recievilng all help. In the meantime, we are very close to losing our home. This is all very frustrating and pathetic of a system. I can't understand what's happened to our country. It's definitely not helping the right people.

I fully agree, drug testing, and making those on welfare go to school or get jobs. Nothing in this world is free. They should be accountable for the food stamps & other programs, I know mothers who pay debts using the food stamp cards, lie to welfare that fathers aren't around when they are living right there, mothers taking advantage of day care while they sleep all day...

i totally agree with this. i also receive food stamps and am not on a garanteed income and sometimes need extra help with cash, and it is so hard for those of us who really are trying to do things the right way. i am all for drug testing as part of the process to receive benefits from welfare.

This needs to happen. I am sick of children going hungry and their parent using their "check" to buy drugs. This money is not reaching the children at all. It is making drug user's out of their parents.

This should most def. be done! Do you know how many individuals are on welfare and just sit on there butt and do drugs? or sell the assistance for cash for their drugs? While we working individuals pay for it!

I am signing this petition because about 2 months ago I was in a grocery store and was approached by a woman asking if I wanted to buy her food stamps. Makes me wonder how many others are doing the same thing. I am from a third world country, when I was growing up my family was very poor. The only help we got was a weekly ration of rice, bulgur and oil. I think that in the US there is too much abuse of the system!

Welfare was designed to be TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE for those who had lost their jobs. It has become a way of life for most of the people on it. It should become WORKfare, and only provide some financial those who actually hold jobs, and then only for a short period of time. Not for generations. Living in America, legal or illegal, should not give anyone the right to be a slug and suck the system dry. I'm tired of paying for it!!!
