My husband and I are both AD Air Force. We have a dobie and she is the best dog we have ever had. I have met more ferocious cocker spaniels. This is discrimination and it's garbage.REPORT COMMENTS

This is just plain wrong. The Doberman is an intelligent, loyal breed who has served and sacrificed for America in multiple military endeavors. My father was a Special Forces military member, and would be ashamed of the blatant discrimination by uneducated people being supported in the military. The Marines motto - Semper Fi describes the doberman personality, which is why the Marines had them as their mascot. To say this "always faithful" breed is no longer welcome in military housing is a betrayal of the code and diminishes the Semper Fi motto. I ask that all Marines, all Special Forces heed the call to speak up, speak out and speak often. Stand up for what's and return the faithfulness of the dogs who protect and serve with you. thank youREPORT COMMENTS

Any breed specific legislation is irresponsible and forces pet parents to get rid of a family member based on hearsay and ill informed, Pitbulls and Dobies have a history of loyalty and great military service. Let's honor that history.REPORT COMMENTS

This is not well researched. Dobermans are not vicious dogs, they are the opposite - loving and loyal. I am a doberman owner and know they are one of the most balanced breeds out there. ALL dogs can be trouble, it all depends on the OWNER and their training. Please reconsider this ban. Thank you.REPORT COMMENTS

People should really give up the breed bans and ban the deed. Labs and Goldens have a much higher bite ratio of dogs to people then any Dobe! ( or many of the other 'bad' breeds!) Get a grip and get educated....those that don't have a clue really need to finally be shut up before they take over everything!REPORT COMMENTS

I have had Dobermans for over 30 years. They are intelligent, loyal, gentle and very lovable animals. If they are good enough to have assisted in the Army at one time, how is that the Army is now disallowing them to live on military housing with their families???REPORT COMMENTS

This is obscene. These loyal creatures put their lives out on the field for us and so many other countries. How can we be hurting the families that they are so loyal to in this way. Breed specific legislation has got to go.REPORT COMMENTS

Dobermans are an exceptional breed with many heroic traits. These military personnel need their companions as a means of therapy, kinship and emotional connection. Please do not take away what means so much to so many people and allow Dobermans to remain with their caring and loving owners, not just for the sake of the dogs but for the sake of our military and their families.REPORT COMMENTS

As a vet of the Army I am appalled at the decision to ban dobermans. Doberman, are no more of a threat than your lowly chihuahua or poodle. Doberman have been the victim of bad press over the years. I had a doberman who was gentle, loyal, and never bit anyone while I have her as my companion. She was protective of me and the property, got along well with my other dogs and cats, and enjoyed playing with the neighborhood kids. If I could, I would have another doberman in my home. I just do not have the room or the time to devote to such a noble animalREPORT COMMENTS

If an individual dog has shown no signs of aggression, that dog should not be singled out based solely on it;s breed. A 10 pound poodle is just as likely to be aggressive as an 80 pound doberman. As a dog trainer I can tell you that each dog is an individual with their own personalities and what I have discovered is aggressive dogs-no matter their breed- are usually indicators of problems with the owners. Look to the humans...not the dogs.REPORT COMMENTS

Dobermans are probably the most loveable, dependable, loyal dogs I have had. My grandchildren (8 of them) have grown up with them...crawled on them, used them as pillows...never experienced barking problem as with small ankle bitters...my 85 pound female thought she was a lap dog...how can the military make such a decision???REPORT COMMENTS

I have owned dobermans for 25 years.. the way a doberman holds itself is the epitome of what the armed services are.. they are loyal, caring, brave, protective and would give their lives for the ones they love... how are all of these virtues somehow undesirable in a dog but not a soldier... they have given their lives to keep us free they deserve nothing less..REPORT COMMENTS
