My Child suffers greatly from this disorder. He has sudden falls, cannot get his driver's license because he may wreck and hurt himself or someone else. He has applied for various jobs, and when he tells people he has the disorder, Narcolepsy with Cataplexy, they will not hire him.REPORT COMMENTS

I have Narcolepsy and struggle every day in every part of my life. It is very debilitating and depressing. All I do in life is work and sleep and can't function as a normal human. I have even attempted suicide twice and been hospitalized for depression 4 times because it affects me so bad. I'm on many medications but can still barely work. I have cut back my hours and therefore my pay and still have to leave early at times because I'm exhausted and too confused to get my work done. Please help!!REPORT COMMENTS

I can no longer live the normal life I had for 32 years becaud I now have to live through every day of the foreseeable future. Because of the severity of these illnesses, I am unable to work or continue my education because I would have sleep attacks; fall asleep(personally I can go drink talking to REL Leek in 6 seconds., forget things due to extreme tiredness and due to catsplecis sttacks, cataplexy is often seen along with narcolepsy, it is a loss of muscle control that is often confused with passing out or having a seizure. Please put your shoes in my position, imagine what it would be like, waking up exhausted, EVERY day, not knowing if you're going to have a good day or a bad day.. if you're going to have an attack at the grocery store and if you're going to make it back home with out getting hurt, without someone having to call an ambulance for you. Narcolepsy and cataplexy are definitely not illnesses to be taken lightly. Those of us ego are effected by these unfortunate illnesses and their debilitating symptoms anduse effects, an those that will never be able to work cured. Please add narcolepsy the list of accepted illnesses and disorder for SSI disability list. Thank my you. Suzanne Perides Ps. It took me almost an hour to complete this request for ssi.! I lost concentration, lost my place and had a hard time staying awake.REPORT COMMENTS

Narcolepsy is an invisible chronic disorder. Studies have shown that narcolepsy has an equal or worse quality of life and impairments as other chronic diseases such as Parkinsonian syndrome, Lupus, Epilepsy, and Multiple sclerosis. All of which are included in the SS Blue Book. People with Narcolepsy struggle to complete daily tasks and there is NO cure and current treatments have a lot to be desired.REPORT COMMENTS
