American taxpayers expect funded media for the public to be unbiased and free of political activism. This has not been the case with NPR. If they wish to continue to be a soap box of political activism let the listeners vote with their donation dollars directly. Please DEFUND NPR, PBS, and National Public Media -
Mar 21st, 2017Robert L. from Portsmouth, VA writes:
I have been urging my representatives in government for many years to stop Federal funding of NPR and PBS without success or even a reply to my mailings, emails and phone messages. This past Presidentail election, their outright support of Hilary and attacks on President Trump, which are still continuing and intensifying, is not acceptable for a forced tax payer supported business. NPR and PBS extreme Leftist and Liberal slant on everything caused me, a long time supporter and volunteer, to distance myself from them. I am sure that ending Federal subsidies will not destroy either NPR or PBS, but may in fact strengthen the two with increased donations and compition in the private sector were a better product and serving that market is always successful. .REPORT COMMENTS

I've been long for de-funding NPR and the like. I find NPR to be often times biased and anti-capitalist and no longer neutral. They no longer serve the original intent. Even though the federal funding amount is small to NPR, that is not the point. When you start adding up all the unnecessary tax payer funded programs it starts to add up in the aggregate. When you calculate for example the National Endowment of the Arts, taxpayer funding represents the entire annual tax burden for over 450,000 working-class American families, that should be glaring and troublesome.REPORT COMMENTS

People who have an open mind and listen to both sides of the political spectrum find NPR's constant liberal propaganda hard to stomach. Day after day it is the same cowardly journalism. If I could only divorce my local radio station from NPR. NPR holds our local member radio stations hostage.REPORT COMMENTS

NPR does provide some useful services. That being said if the are provided with public funding their political views should not be expressed in any way shape or form.
