This virus is physically and emotionally detroying innocent lives daily. This is not a virus that is impossible to cure. Scientist have reached breaking grounds and understand this virus far more than ever before. This virus does not discriminate. All ages, races, and educational backgrounds can be infected with this virus. People are begging for more funding to be put forth in herpes research, especially those that are working toward a REAL CURE. Not to forget that billions of tax dollars are being used toward the devastating effects of herpes---Alzheimer's, HIV/AIDS, Ocular herpes. Please don't ignore the millions who are dying either mentally of physically from this virus. We need you to care!Dec 21st, 2010Someone from Providence, RI signed.

People with genital HSV are in a higher category of contracting HIV. As a person with HSV, my life has been drastically changed. A cure would rid many of the emotional distress that comes with having an incurable disease that is socially stigmatized. Please fund a cure!REPORT COMMENTS

This is a curable virus which prevents MANY Americans from being productive in the work place when the fairly regular episodes occur. Many Americans are forced to take days off from work. Just another thought to think about when deciding on funding the research for this virus.REPORT COMMENTS

Why not put a little upfront focus on a common disease to create jobs, a tremendous amount of revenue, and free up quite a bit of funding? I know that most people don't view herpes viruses as deadly which would make them less attractive to fund, but if you consider the magnitude of people infected, the market for such drugs to cure these viruses will lead to more dollars available to research deadly disease and regenerative medicine. More lives could be saved or restored in the long term. HSV isn't the only herpes virus that is not taken seriously. HHV-6 which every person has is coming to the forefront due to links between it and MC, CFS, and other chronic conditions. HHV-6 has also been proven to deplete killer T cells which causes complications for HIV and HSV sufferers and also helps to advance HIV to AIDS. Please consider working with pharmaceutical manufacturers to create jobs in the US to combat these viruses. We can help ourselves and the rest of the world this way.REPORT COMMENTS
