Such revolting opulence in a democracy that should be working to help their people. The disparity between the haves and have-nots is a growing divide. For what reason are we giving these people in Congress a free pass when there is homelessness, poverty, poor medical care and lack of proper education in America. It's a sad tale about what America should be all about.

Perhaps members of Congress might make more compassionate and informed decisions if they had to live like the rest of us. They work very few days and have so many perks...we pay their salaries. Perhaps we can have a check off on our tax returns to not have our taxes go for their salaries....

I demand that my elected officials in the Senate and Congress look elsewhere to make budget cuts, starting with their own paycheck, health insurance and other perks and benefits they receive, instead of targeting the poor, elderly and disabled. If they expect others to go without, it's time they did also!

They should get the same benefits we get, or less, since we pay their salaries. I am a progressive Roosevelt, Truman, Sanders, Warren Democrat. No working person should not be!

Congress should NOT get rich off the tax payer while so many American people struggle to get by! It's time they remember they are public servents who work for We The People, something they seem to have forgotten. If we are in desperate need of budget cuts they should look bo further than their own pay instead of targeting the least fortunate among us and cutting government programs that struggling families rely on to get by. Enough is enough!

When Members of Congress feel as vulnerable as their constituents, perhaps they will make more responsible and informed decisions on their behalf.

Nobody should get rich from public service. They are drawing full salaries and benefits for sitting on their butts, refusing to resolve matters at hand. That's basically stealing. Refusing to reach any level of compromise and pouting like children instead of acting like adults, enough is enough. The government has no business being involved with healthcare. Obamacare should be repealed immediately and healthcare should return to the free market. That's how you force prices down and coverage limits up at the same time. Make the insurance companies compete for our business. That way it would be up to each individual as to what coverage is best for them and their budget. Those who are in their 20's may opt for major medical only while those who are in their 70's may opt for full coverage. Healthcare is promised nowhere in the Constitution. Only a politician receiving major kickbacks from pharmaceutical or insurance companies would push so hard for such government intervention. Politicians should earn a median wage in direct correlation to the district they represent. Any benefits received should fall under the same guidelines. Pension should only enter the realm of discussion after 30+ years of service just like the rest of us. They're not even held to the standards of the laws they are paid to put in place. Diplomatic immunity should be abolished immediately. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Travel allowances and office budgets should be next on the chopping block. Obama gave everyone a cellphone. They can CALL instead of flying to meet and wine and dine each other on our dime. Billions go down the drain each year on such foolishness. Yet they are expected to understand the plight of the average taxpayer. How is that remotely possible when they live like royalty? Trump has set a fine precedent by refusing the traditional salary. Amazing how politicians go into office as upper middle class and emerge from office obscenely wealthy. Yet this goes completely unnoticed by the media whose job it is to expose such behavior. Wake up people, quit being offended by what the president is trying to accomplish because of who he is and look at what he is working towards. A more prosperous America that protects American taxpayers! No longer will we be the united States of the offended that screws the average taxpayer and caters to everybody else. Oddly enough, that sole line of reasoning is why some of you think Trump is the evil bastard that the media portrays Unfortunately, President Trump is forced to work with career politicians. If he is able to accomplish what he wants to do, he's likely to go down as the greatest president in American history.

Cutting any funding to Meals on Wheels, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and all other safety net programs for the workingclass, and your continued refusal to support Medicare for All, should guarantee your immediate retirement. We, the taxpayers, are your employer and you have no business cutting all programs we need while promoting the war machine which is a rich folks' enrichment program since the greatest profits are in oil and munitions, the only reason the military exists. Tax the rich and fund needs of the workingclass now.

Why should public servants get outstanding benefits and health care when they are working to reduce the benefits received by those they serve? Immoral.

The title is "public servant" not "public parasite." You're such hypocrites. Trying to deny basic necessary care to the less fortunate while you yourselves continue to suck on the free healthcare teat. Complaining about the deficit, yet voting to fill your own pockets at the expense of the people you are supposed to be working for. You should be ashamed, but we all know that humility isn't in your repertoire.

Everyone ( Incuding Congress and everyone in government ) should be on Obamacare. Regulate insurance companies, and reward them to participate in the ACA exchanges. Penalize them for not participating.

Elected officials should be on Obamacare (if it isn't repealed) or RINOcare if the "Affordable Care Act" it is not completely repealed. Either way, they shouldn't havet better healthcare options than their constituents.

We should not have to pay lifetime salary for any members of Congress. There should be term limits and no more free rides or perks. Where do they think the money comes from - a genie in a lamp!! Come on!! This is ridiculous and we need to stop this. They will never vote to take a pay cut so we need to figure how to do it. They are the ones that keep voting for their raises and perks in the first place. And now Genetic testing!! They will use this to charge people more for health insurance or deny them health insurance if they carry genes for anything. People wake up. It is becoming Utopia right in front of our eyes!! If you are not what they deem the perfect human.....sound familiar?
