Cut your benefits first, you can start with your coffee and snacks allotment and go from there! Payback the money "borrowed" from Social Security! -

You should set the example and cut your benefits first. You should also show America by setting an example and eliminating your healthcare benefits. You should toss out your pensions and join the Social Security ranks. Get in touch with how what used to be the middle class, is now living through. I lost my life savings, investments, and retirement because of bad laws, bailouts, and one horrific head on collision with an uninsured driver. Five million gone along with my home and rental income. Get back in touch and avoid a revolutionREPORT COMMENTS

Give back the "borrowed" social security money, then give everyone raises. Either give U.S. citizens the same health care that Congress gets, or make Congress pay for insurance like everyone else. Adjust Congressional salaries to an hourly wage, when they show up for work and stay there all day., and no raises if soc sec recipients do not get cost of living raises.REPORT COMMENTS

If congress thinks it has a mandate to "improve" health care without listening to the people, they are grievously wrong. While they maintain their benefits paid by you and me, they are stripping our health care to the bone, reducing our viable options by emphasizing profit for insurance companies. Universal medicare works in countries all around the world, is affordable, efficient and simple. It removes profit motivation and allows people to see their doctor instead of putting it off or not going at all because of costs. Congress has no clue what the average American faces every day. By the way, I do not own an Iphone!REPORT COMMENTS

There is no reason the public should pay for the Member's of Congress' health care. They make enough money to pay for their own. We need to cut back from subsidizing their health care and provide the help to the most needy: the poor and elderly.REPORT COMMENTS

As a senior on a fixed income I am appalled at the cuts to the budget made by Mr. Trump. I rely on the National Endowment for the Arts and other social programs and am so horrified at what he is cutting for the poor. I expected this from the "Republicans" since they have been wanting to do this for years. I wonder if the "steel worker" mentioned by the Republican congressman will be happy to give the big tax cuts to the rich like Mr. Trump and his cabinet.REPORT COMMENTS

How can the Congress and Senate understand how the cuts they propose to Healthcare affect the average citizen if they never have to use it. Hearing a constituents' problems is not at all the same as facing those problems yourself. In the 1970's judges sentenced slum lords to live in their slums for a period of time so they could see what it was like. Perhaps the President and all Senators and Congressmen should have to live for a year with the changes they are making before they force them on the people.REPORT COMMENTS

If this new plan is so great they should opt in for themselves and their families. They make enough so surely they can afford it and if it's good enough for us it should be good enough for them. They can also take care of their elderly parents or spouses since they want to cap nursing home care. Think of all the money that they could save for "silly" things like Meals on Wheels, food for hungry children living in poverty and women's reproductive issues including contraceptives. They are severely out of touch with the real worldREPORT COMMENTS
