Even China is considering bans on importation of species from Africa yet we, as supposedly the world leader in these protective ventures, continue to lag behind. Let's be the instigator of these actions rather than the laughing stock. We protect bald eagles (our national symbol), yet our citizens flock to Tanzania, Zimbabwe and South Africa (amongst other countries) to slaughter their animals for money. How absurd? Could you imagine the outcry if a Russian national came over here with a hunting rifle to bag himself an eagle for his wall?! And before you suggest it, no the bald eagle is not endangered (just protected because it's our national symbol) - in fact there are more bald eagles in the wild in Alaska alone than there are lions on the African continent left.REPORT COMMENTS
