My fiance is currently serving a life sentence for a crime by law carries 10 years. He is one of many statistics that was sentence under the "stacking"act for a non-violent crime. Prison should provide rehabilitation the same as Drug treatment programs and hospital therapy. Prison should provide structure, education and guidance for the inmates to return to society with the neccesary tools of knowing how to be a productive citizens. Valuing the oppurtunity of a second chance to not only be a productive member of society but a better husband, father, son and man! When judges issues unrealistic sentences to individuals, in addition, the federal facilities do not offer absolute not rehabilitating programs not only traps their body but minds as well. This type of sentencing, or rather cruel and unneccessary punishment will not correct ones behavior physically, mentally, emotionally nor spiritually. Not giving them a second chance to see there mishaps, correct them and become productive takes away ones life to live. Speaking for myself, my fiance was in total darkness due to his life sentence. Satan had his foot on his neck with No Hope! His sentencing has taking a great toll on me, my daughter and his kids lives. I feel I'm walking in my grandmother shoes humming and praying for a better change. I give my all to keep him positive, focus and believing that there's a God that can touch one heart to overchange this harsh and cruelity of punishment. Where is the justice? Is it "Just" what the judge decided even when he is making a wrongful unrealistic decision for punishment? I'm Pleading that this bill be brought to the House and Congress, voted and passed. Give our men and women a second chance to not only becomer greater but also to assist in the millions of dollars that can be saved and utilizied into a greater rehabilitating facility. -

I don't know how to put it nicely, but the 924(c) stacking statutes are some of the most ludicrous laws in the land, and there are many. Unfortunately they are affecting human lives; no only the prisoners, but their families as well. It's past time that this country stand up for it's beliefs in human dignity and and justice for all.REPORT COMMENTS

I would like to get involved with this movement because my son is affected by this change. He was sentenced to 27 years for robbery and he's a first time offender. This should not be, he along with others deserve a second change without such a harsh punishment. We have people that have committed more harsh crimes such as murder, molestation, etc and there punishment is not this harsh. So I'm asking that our politicians, judges, and other law enforcement take another long and hard look at this and help these young men and women get a second change at life. Throwing away their second chance and keeping them locked up is not the answer. I don't wanna die while my son is in prison. They all deserve another chance. Second Chances.REPORT COMMENTS

This stacking bill has destroyed the lives of so many people. It is in my opinion unconstitutional. It a form of cruel and unusual punishment. It goes against the fabric of the Declaration of Independence - i.e. life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The inmates suffer long unnecessary incarceration and their families suffer disruption and hardship daily. Reform of this bill is long overdue. I submit a plea to approve Criminal Justice Reform Bill, HR 1254.REPORT COMMENTS

My friend was incarcerated for possession of 11 pounds of MARIJUANA and possession of a REGISTERED GUN. He was sentenced 6 years but because of the stacking law he got charged twice for the gun possession, which carries an automatic 30 years add to his time. There is no way that this can be a legal sentence when so much worse crimes are committed and get far less time. He has been a model inmate for about 20 years now. He has worked and gone to classes and craft classes. He has exhausted all money over the years paying lawyers to help him get released at no prevail. People who commit murder get out before him. HOW???? The stacking law is unconstitutional. How can you be charged for the same crime twice at the same trail???? He needs to be let go. PLEASE CHANGE & REPEALTHE BILL 924c. PLEASE RECOMMEND BILL 1264 BE BROUGHT TO THE FLOOR FOR A VOTE!!! APPROVE THIS BILL, PLEASE!!!!!!!!REPORT COMMENTS

My Husband is awaiting his trial. With serious mental illness and the 924c stacking means he will never get the help that he needs and deserves. This law says to me that we have not evolved. It is easier to lock up what society considers "lower life" and the "insane" and it is easier to disregard these human lives. These people all have mothers, wives, children and sometimes its bad choices. Sometimes, its because society failed. Lawmakers fail. No one was hurt in his case and what good is it to sentence someone so long? what can an old man do to society? what can a terminally ill person do to society? 924c is not the answer. Every case should be looked at individually, every case should consider the deeper issues. Stop 924cREPORT COMMENTS

My son Rudy Coyazo is now a grandfather to two children he has not held and makes his incarceration that much more painful. He yearns to hug his daughter and meet her husband and hold his grandchildren. Please please reconsider that a person has served his time at 20 years. I ask you and his two sister, nephews, nieces, and his daughter that he hasn't seen for 24 years plead with you. His daughter and our family were reunited 10 years ago and this alone would change my son's life for a new beginning. Please help me and my son as I don't know what to do as I feel Tulsa prosecutor will not do anything to help.REPORT COMMENTS
