We need to stop shelters that kill dogs simply becase. everyday i see another sweet dog on their kill list. These dogs re sweet young and they are entitled to their lives. We dont do this to people. Why do we do this to dogs? We need to e the voice ot these sweet babies. Pleae pass laws that stop shelters from killing dogs. Please pass laws to protect ALL dogs and give them their right to their own life. It is wrong on so many levels! I beg you to pass laws to make all dog shelters no kill shelters..please!!!Feb 7th, 2017Chantel G. from Jacksonville, FL signed.

Stop abuse of farm animals. Stop dairy farmer abuse of cows. It should be illegal to separate a calf from its cow mother. Cows should not be subject to constant milking by machine. Restrictions should be in place that do not harm the animal or allow cruelty.REPORT COMMENTS

i think people should have to register their pets and if any harm comes to them or they are caught mistreating their pets, they should serve jail time. Pets are not yard ornaments, they need to be taken in out of the cold and heat fresh food and water every day. They should not be put in the back of a pick up truck in the hot bed or chained to the tool box. We desperately need to change the animal cruelty laws to be more specific with harsher punishment to owners.REPORT COMMENTS

I think they need to change the law on animal abuse. How can the law not see that animals are a big part of this world they save peoples lifes they even work for the police. I find it on believable that people do the sickest things to animals and hurt them in unbleaveable ways and they get a ticket. What is that they say that a person that hurts animals also will end up hurting people. Well they should of stoped it when they hurt that animal in the first place. Also i think that animal shelter should not be playing god what gives them the right to end a animals life just because they didnt find a home in two weeks. They should never have that right aless the animal is dieing and there is nothing at all they can do just like a person. I have watch on on line people that take a dog or cat or so and they put there all in saving them when most places would of just kill them .that is how it should be. The law needs to change time are not like they use to be. People do the most horrible things to animals and the law is letting them. Its not right.. and it will not charge atell the law helps it. And if people that hurt animals do end up hurting people to then maybe changing the law on animals will also save someones life to. And if they dont think that they should change the law send a little time on line and you can see the things people are doing to animals and just getting away with it. And when your done you will see why it should be changed its horrible and sick and its not right. Qhat if it was you that they did it to and no one did nothing would you want it to stop?? Anyone that feels the same say it out loud help change this law. Look at your pet you love and ask your self would you want some one to hurt your pet. What if your dog or what ever got lose and when you found it he had his legs cut off from some sick person would you feel his pain would you cry but most of all wouldn't you want that person that did it to pay .. i know i would my dogs are like my kids they are a part of my family. Are yours?? Help change this law for all the animals that are being missed treated..thank you for careing..REPORT COMMENTS

I passionately agree! Anyone who abuses and neglects any animal intentionally has mental illness. Our laws that are supposed to protect animals are a joke. We need laws that stop abuse to animals now. Judges need to order mental health evaluations to all animal abusers sentenced in court. Also ordered never to own a animal or be around animals. Judges who hand down light sentences should be held accountable and be at risk of impeachment. A National Animal Abuse Registry needs to be put in place in every state. If jail/prison time should be mandatory to those sentenced of animal abuse and restitution ordered for all expenses incurred. Its got to stop NOW! Don't let "out of site, out of mind" dictate your empathy of this problem. Become an agent of change and take action today. God Bless our animals.REPORT COMMENTS

Congress passes a thousand laws per year. We need federal laws passed to protect animals. There are so many people that are not okay with the weak laws that are currently supposed to protect animals and yet sufficient protection laws are still not implemented. These laws should not be at the state level either because it should not be okay in any state to neglect, abuse or discard animals. I want federal laws passed by Congress. Schools also need to teach compassion and kindness. My taxes pay for the school system and if kids have to learn how to run around a track in Gym then they should definitely have to learn how to be compassionate and kind. This is something that has nothing to do with religion and everything to do with the survival and evolution of the human race. Change! I want change!REPORT COMMENTS

Ok. So what do we do? Where do we start? I know everyone here agrees, but I haven't seen anything on how to change this. Do we petition? Do we go to congress? How can we stop this once and for all? The shelters in my city, mine included, are severely overfilled. The solution is NOT more animal shelters, it's killing the root of the problem: ignorance, irresponsibility, and extremely weak punishments to the people committing animal cruelty.REPORT COMMENTS

It is way past due to set severe laws for those who abuse and neglect animals. There should be longer prison time. Huge fines if people don't spay and neuter their pets...no exceptions! Puppy mills should be all together stopped. There are so many cats and dogs in shelters. Animals should not be put down just because they're not being adopted. There should be some kind of background check when someone wants to adopt an animal. Far too many animals die each year in the hands of mean and cruel humans. Just the same, far too many are reproduced because humans neglect to spay and neuter...REPORT COMMENTS

We need to have severe punishment ,not only financial punishment ,but jail time for people who abuse & neglect animals !! It makes me very sad that human beings can be so cruel to innocent animals who do not have a voice of there own !! They are just like little kids , who need to be protected & cared for , they are NOT toys , no matter if they are young or old ! Old doesn't mean it's not worthy of love & respect ! People have to stop using animals as money making machines cos they are NOT ! People need to stop buying animals from stores & go to shelters where there are so many wonderful animals old & young just waiting to find a new home , where they can be loved & show how much love they have within them even after all the mistreatment they have suffered . Also people have to realize before they commit to surprise the kids for Christmas with a furry little fuzz - ball , that little baby will grow & will need attention & love , not only while it's cute & fuzzy - as I said they are NOT toys , we need to educate our children of the responsibilities that come from owing a pet ! If you don't want your pet you need to find it a home or ask for help NOT abundant your animal ! I will not stand by quietly if I witness somebody harming an animal , neither will I leave an animal in danger or behind ! What's the matter with people ??? CHANGE THE LAWS !!!!REPORT COMMENTS

STOP Animal Abuse and Cruelty!!! Laws need to be stronger. There needs to be an official list (like rapists and sexual offenders have), that is for Animal Abusers to ban them from ever owning an animal again. There needs to be HUGE fines and there needs to be jail time 10-15 years. These precious animals do not have a voice of their own. So I am their voice and I'm telling you this needs to stop. In addition you need to empower people to be able to step in and stop abuse if they witness it, report it and immediately take the animal to a vet for care. I won't stand by and watch people abuse animals. Those that perform these hideous acts, think it's funny and hilarious. It is not. I would prefer the punishment fitting the crime, an eye for an eye. However, Human Rights groups would scream, "IN-HUMAINE", that's right. It is in-humaine, even to animals. Animals can feel everything we can feel; Fear, Pain, Terror, Protect the ones they love, defend their family, Hunger, Thirst, Happiness, Joy, Sadness, just because they walk on all 4's and speak a language we do not understand does not make them any less human than we are. Change the laws!!!REPORT COMMENTS

Animals (pets) are like children. They rely on us for their care to keep them alive, much like a baby. If you see neglect/abuse to a child you should/would report. It is no different in the case of an animal. Laws need to be changed regarding cruelty to animals. They are vague and need to be updated. Animals don't have a voice. We are their voice. The difference between a pet and a human is that our pets truely love us unconditionally.REPORT COMMENTS

It is past time for humans to step up and pass laws to protect animals and also punish the abusers with incarceration and online registry. Education for awareness about this issue must be implanted into the grade school curriculums which is the time abusers start manifesting their violent perversions. We need to encourage people to not be afraid to report animal abuse. Animals need and deserver our help!REPORT COMMENTS
