All congressional pay raises should be tied to minimum wage increases, retroactively to 1967.Sep 28th, 2011Someone from Middleton, WI signed.

While playing this game, imagine being arrested for marijuana. You would be kicked out of public housing, fired from your job and unable to qualify for another due to your new 'arrest record', unable to ever get an educational grant or loan, refused essiential medical care like organ transplant, lose your right to vote, lose your driver's license for 6 months, be forced to attend Christian church (even if you are not Christian, arguing will get you 'corrective thinking classes' 9 @ $50 each - as a 'condition of bail' & before guilt has even been established) , pay for urine testing $150 month and your children will be taken away. Should you choose to live in public housing urine testing will be required even if you have never been arrested for or done drugs.... This process reduces the ladder one climbs to reach 'the American Dream' to kindling, burns it to ashes and blows it away. Telling people to stop doing drugs, go back to school and make something of your life has been made into the remark of an uninformed fool. I mention all this because many of the poorest Americans have been trapped in poverty this way, no politicians want to admit they legislated and support this process. Meanwhile the police that do this to them are making $40k + and the lawyers - HA!!!! RICHREPORT COMMENTS

Please take this seriously. Play the game, and bear in mind that millions of your constituents play it for real and for keeps; for them it is a life and death game. It may even teach you to be just a tiny bit (I don't expect much) compassionate.REPORT COMMENTS

For some of my neighbours, an $8/hour job would be a dream come true. Play this, please, and then try to imagine that it's not a game. If you don't believe the cost of things, do some homework, get out of your car in the neighbourhoods you are afraid of, and realise that you represent US, too.REPORT COMMENTS

When one congressman whines that his family can't get by on $600,000, and he doesn't want his taxes raised-- you have to wonder what kind of world these clowns are living in, compared to the rest of us. They could play this "game" and see how "the other half lives"-- and they wouldn't have to risk getting their hands dirty or their hair mussed up.REPORT COMMENTS

This is why the poor and our allies, who know they could all too easily become us, want the rich to pay their fair share for the infrastructure and environmental services by which they exploit our labor to make obscene profits. We want urban farming, public and alternative transportation, renewable energy generated at the household and community level, including solar and methane capture from compost, and community water supplies free from the threats of fracking and other fossil-fuel extraction activities. You need to spend our money where it will do us good, even if that means harming the industries that are harming us, even killing us. We are good people faced with no good options, and it is inadequately regulated corporate pursuit of profitability and productivity that has destroyed the good options. It is fitting to tax the destroyers of our lives to restore them, to restore our nation. Thank you for recalling the duty to which you dedicated yourself as a public servant.REPORT COMMENTS
