I think this is a great idea... Every student in my classes has a cell phone and they use it to look up things and text friends and what-ever. I do not want this to affect my teaching and I would love to have the option to cut those things off during school. They are not needed during class and... like in a movie theater... they need to be off! Distractions from cell phone use by students is increasing and detracting from the learning by the students. I do not believe this is an area-"if you can't beat them, join them". although some classes can utilize cell phones to keep kids aware of classroom, many students cannot achieve in this arena to the extent that is required in today's schools.REPORT COMMENTS
