I totally agree I remember back in boy scouts I smuggled a portable TV in my sleeping bag, watched ten and stumpy while others were watching leaves. I still have that portable TV all I can watch on it is a visual representation of what your foot falling asleep looks like.... Static And people would be not throwing out the crt TV. Less waste of resources

GIVE ME BACK MY ANALOG TELEVISION!!! To show how terrible digital tv is, I got so fed up today with this annoying digital signal, I searched the internet to see if there was some where I could complain and it didn't take long to find a place. Man how I miss analog tv. You know I haven't seen NBC sense the 2015 Super Bowl?! And it took me 3.5 qtrs to get it to come in. Few days later it went out again and I just said " to hell with it!" That was February 2015. Got so tired of the high cost of cable going up and up and up. And what about the people who can't just flat out afford it? Who just want to enjoy the local morning or afternoon news. And all these Dam Antennas that promise you all these stations you'll get, and make sure they're pointed toward the station tower" blah blah blah! And end up, that $75 antenna does no better than a $7 pair of rabbit ears. JESUS CHRIST!! What was the point of dtv? Remember the day if your antenna broke and you could take a wire close hanger : or just a piece of wire and get some kind of 'reception. Now you get frozen pictures or no signal. Why can't all the stations have the same signal strengths? I've moved a few times in the past five years. From the city to the suburbs to the smallest of township. Still certain stations want come in. But no matter where I live, I can always get the same 7 or 8 christian and real old movie channels clear as a bell. No matter how close or how far I am to the station tower. Why can't the rest of the channels be like that. Wasn't digital tv supposed to do that for all the stations? Huh? Somethings should be left alone. Who's bright idea was this in the first place? PLEASE GIVE ME BACK MY ANALOG TV. DIGITAL TELEVISION REALLY REALLY SUCKS.

Digital broadcasts are completely useless....let me explain why. Because of its design, it only works well if you have PERFECT signal. Otherwise it skips. So, those that implemented this******ASSUME that everyone has perfect signal. That's an ASININE assumption on their part, and is not grounded in reality or facts. I've been watching over-the-air my entire life and static/low signal is THE NORM, not the exception. The vast majority of the time when I was watching analog there was always some static. Very VERY rarely did anything come in perfectly. On digital, static has been replaced by skipping. In other words, where you would've had static/snow before you now have skipping. IN EVERY INSTANCE WHERE YOU'D NORMALLY GET STATIC. That effectively means that there's always some skipping. The skipping makes it pointless trying to watch anything. With static/snow you could still watch and it wasn't unwatchable. The skipping is unwatchable! I can't stand it for more than 5-10 minutes before I either have to mute it or turn it off. Dialogue gets interrupted so you can't understand anything. Miss an important part of the show, because of a blank ****ing screen every 5 seconds? At least with static you could still see some of the image through the static, and hear part of the audio. No more. I can't believe someone actually approved this shit! I don't want to be a conspiracy nutter, but I tend to believe this was done on purpose to force people into paying for cable. Like the American government believes its everyone's patriotic duty to contribute to the economy, and of course that means SPENDING more. Its not just the skipping making me think this way, the quality of the programming has drastically decreased since the 90's, it almost seems meant to shame people for not being "successful" enough to afford cable!

This transmission system is atrocious. Constant pixelation and dropouts. I've never made it through a half hour program without an interruption. How can this system be at all reliable in the case of an emergency? Seems the only people benefitting from it are the companies overseas peddling the garbage electronics that make it "work". I count seven analog tuners in my house that were rendered completely useless when the switch occurred. I'd rather watch snow at this point.

Analog is the traditional way to go, in fact analog cell towers should be brought back also because the lower class or analog enthusiast will greatly benefit from it leading to more profit. I guess congress likes to ignore money.

Well why don't we just cater to rich people and make it harder and harder for people who are trying to better themselves and their family. I'm 2 hours from Houston and 1 hour from Waco and 1 hour from Dallas and I only pick up one channel and even that is spotty at times. With analog I could get at least 4 channels. And if bad weather comes you can forget about watching the news on the tv for a warning. So its been over 5 years since the switch and the digital signal is still not very strong. I am very disappointed especially with all the technology that has advanced today. Surely there is a solution for this problem? Or does that not even matter cause the people who use this service don't have money to forward to big corporations who fund politicians when they run for office?

What good does my Sony FD-2A Watchman from 1985/08 have? None as far as I'm concerned... unless we get analog back. Digital TV showcases severe audiovisual compression artifacts, which become unnerving after a certain period of time, depending on your tolerance.

Digital tv sucks. I may have only gotten a CBS,ABC, NBC and a PBS and a UHF Channel but they can in clear, and I didn't have to move the antenna. Now I get 2 CBS channels one of which is nothing but 50's shows, NO ABC OR NBC stations,4 PBS, only 2 of which are not cooking shows or 50's style shows, and 4 I repeat 4 shopping channel type channels. What the hell do I want shopping channels for. GO BACK TO ANALOG CHANNELS OR PROVIDE MORE REMOTE BROADCAST ANTENNAS SO THAT SOMEONE WHO IS ONLY 22 MILES FROM THE STATION CAN ACTUALLY GET OVER THE AIR BROADCAST. And cable service is over 40.00 a month for basic stations and a bunch of crappy stations like those mentioned above. Nothing but shopping channels and the information channel, a bunch of audio music channels and absolutely nothing of value in the way of anything someone would want to watch.

The only way I am able to access television, following the nation's switch to digital, is by purchasing satellite service. This is because of the mountains in my area. It does not seem right that a senior should pay over $100/month to view local news.

It's all been said, and I know it's futile to ask a snake to be anything else' but bring it back. I have never noticed police or firemen using tv to communicate as Mr. B. once said. I think more and more as I write this that maybe we should just put all tv down in the trash. Trash in trash out. Do we really need a box telling us lies and distracting us from the life in front of us? I guess I'd miss a few shows, but then again maybe I'd learn a new language. (or notice a few more important things going on in the world.) In any case bring it back. Digital sucks rope.

Why are we paying for this when it is substandard quality? We cannot even watch TV half of the time because all the channels pixelate and freeze constantly. The cable companies don't care because the few that exist have a monopoly so they can provide horrible service at exhibit ant prices and get away with it.
