I do not enjoy having my weekend taken away from me to do something that, in the long run, is insignificant to my life. -

http://www.educacionenred.pe/noticia/?portada=95789 Kids should be playing sports or musing or doing art after school. Imagine yourself coming home after a long day at work and having to do HOME - WORK that is due the very NEXT DAY. Please help us have happier kids that look forward on going to school the next day. It should not feel like a punishment for them. Specially kindergarten.REPORT COMMENTS

I agree homework has come to the point where the child is upset and the parents are frustrated. I didn't go to school to teach my child math or spelling teachers do. If homework must be sent home It should only be reviewing what they've already learned in school!REPORT COMMENTS

Kids should learn academic lessons at school and life lessons at home. With all the homework there is no time to learn how to cook, practice an instrument, develop a hobby, spend quality time with family members, learn a language or instrument, rest, stare at the walls, have some unstructured time, play sports, run around and have fun, draw.......REPORT COMMENTS

Homework adds stress on students and tires them during the school week. If student could unwind and relax at home instead of doing 4-5 hours of additional homework.REPORT COMMENTS

I agree. Seven hours of school should be enough to learn anything. Sure, let?s say that you have recess and lunch--there?s still a good five hours where you?re studying. If you can?t learn what you need in that time, there?s a problem. Rather than giving you lots of homework after school to compensate, schools should look at how they can rework teaching systems in class to make the most of the time you have in school. Many adults get angry if their work life spills over into their personal life. They like to go out after work and spend time with friends. But children should get the same respect. School is a time for learning, and it takes up much of the day. After school is the time for pursuing your own hobbies and personal pastimes. Let's make sure this petition goes to Congress!REPORT COMMENTS

No one--whether they're 8 or 18--should be forced to do homework for hours every night or in the summer (5 homework assignments in summer? No thanks). It is a waste of time.REPORT COMMENTS
