Yes I think this will be fair to all the immates. this Law is so unfair. PUTING AWAY YOUNG MEN AND WOMEN for long period of time. awaya for their family. I have a son in for 10 years with no prior criminal record. PPl who has committed murder are given more consideration .Please get this law changed to retroactive NOW!!!! I have had several family member to do 8-12 years in prison because of this law. We have lost precious time from family members because of an unfair law. All of them are home except one and that is my fiance'. Please make it retroactive so my daughters and I can be reunited with him. He has been gone long enough. Thank you in advance!REPORT COMMENTS

I am excited about the momentum of this Federal bill. How can this help on a state level? I have a brother serving a 40 year sentence in Tennessee for selling a total of $400 in drugs. He was convicted as a career criminal. He was set up by the drug task force and a confidential informant. He has no criminal background other than these charges. Thanks for any advice!! I support the new crack law and think it should apply retroactive. However, I also think congress should apply there new change to the statue retroactive and I'am asking that you ( The Sentencing Commission recommend to congress that they should also introduce a bill that would make S. 1789 retroactive. My son got LIFE!! because of hear-say from other inmates that did a plea for their time cut. So yes I would love to see the Bill S. 1789 be made retroactive it would bring a lot of low-level, non-violent offenders home.REPORT COMMENTS

My husband was sentenced August 21, 2008 and he is caught between two crack sentences. The first that was passed November 2007, and now this S. 1789, so he does not benefit from either sentence, think of the thousands of federal inmates that this law does not help because it is not retroactive.REPORT COMMENTS
