V.A. Community Care Taking Too Long – Request to move back to outsourced scheduling

I along with many Military Veterans are seeing the change in the Veterans Administration when it comes to our community care. We are pushed to community care because it takes longer than 30 to 45 days to get care from the VA directly. Community care can take up to three months to call just to start the process for scheduling appoints with community doctors. When we call the Community Care Department our hold times are up to two hours. Talking to the VA reps in Community Care they are overworked and in most cases are crossed trained and Community Care is their second function.

When companies like Tri-West were taking care of our Community Care the process was easy, we could always get a person in less than 20 minutes on the phone. Your Veterans are suffering in many ways and now we must suffer this new process of the VA trying to take on more than it can handle. They are not even hiring new people to fill the gaps.

The Community Care program was to make it easier for us Veterans to get the care we need.

I am requesting that Congress place a mandate on the Veterans Administration to outsource these services back to the agencies who are fit to work the process. Have we not suffered enough?
