The week before Col. Stahlman was shot I had the honor of meeting him at our weekly Mass at Camp Ramadi Chapel. As we shook hands at the sign of peace it got my attention to see a full bird colonel setting behind me. For some reason I read his name tag and was saddened by the events of the following week. All we heard on base was that he had taken his own life. The military IMO seemed to downplay any shootings to not panic the younger soldiers. As a fellow Catholic my heart, thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family often. Gods blessings and peace to you Mrs. Stahlman and your family. He is in Gods loving hands and God will bring Justice to him either now or in the next life.REPORT COMMENTS

Out of respect for a USNA Graduate and a dedicated Marine, our public servants in Congress and the Senate should, at a minimum, spend the time necessary to understand what happened here. Mike served his country so we, and they, can be free - it is the least they should do.REPORT COMMENTS

I did not know him personally, but he was my first battalion (1st BN B Co) commander at P.I in the Summer of 2004. Remember seeing his picture in the Marine Times in 2008 and was shocked. I am even more shocked to now know the circumstances of his untimely departure, and wish full closure and justice for he and his family. God Bless.REPORT COMMENTS

I was a 13th Company shipmate of Mike's at the Naval Academy. I find it very difficult that the Mike I knew would have committed suicide. This case should not be closed, and it demands further and thorough investigation.REPORT COMMENTS
