Not only are they buying up millions of tax exempt properties, but they are preaching politics and the IRS does nothing! The only thing that should be tax exempt is the property the church sits on and real charity work, period! -

It should be noted that non religious 501(c)3 organizations are subject to far more regulation, audit, and reporting requirements. Non profits are required to operate within the mission of the organization which is meant to provide a public benefit. If they do not, their tax exempt status will be revoked. Religion is exempt from these rules and is allowed to do as they wish with the funds. Clearly the government is granting special privilege to religion which is a constitutional violation.REPORT COMMENTS

we won't be free of religion until our money is used to pay for churches and pastors/priests. If money is involved is called a business.REPORT COMMENTS

Religious institutions are endowed with special rights over and above those of other nonprofits. This is not consistent with separation of church and state. There is inadequate oversight and no requirement to disclose their financial records. This is wrong and must stop.REPORT COMMENTS

The (up to) $85B in tax revenue from churches would cure disease and feed everyone on food stamps. If your church has a new high-def projector in a mega auditorium, you may want to question things.REPORT COMMENTS

If churches can ask the public for money, they should be taxed. It is not fair for hard working citizens to just give their money away to a church that earns their money just by begging. Preachers and people who run the churches don't even spend the money on the church or the community. They spend it on they're own personal ventures. Houses, cars, random useless cadgets just for show. It's disgraceful.REPORT COMMENTS

Please revise this tax code. I don't mind exemptions for charity work, but having a church should be a service to a community and not a cash cow.REPORT COMMENTS

Churches are bringing their religious agenda into politics. The 1st amendment clearly says that the people in this country have the freedom whether or not to worship any religion. When they bring their religion into politics, they are simply trying to dictate us with their propaganda. As a result, they should not be exempt from any taxes.REPORT COMMENTS

It is time to end the tax deduction. Churches are a business and political. The make millions and pay nothing. The enjoy living in America but get a free ride. Do they help the homeless really? No. Our nation debt could be paid off if they were taxed. It is time to stop them from taking advantage. The mega churches make millions and pay nothing in tax. It is time for a change.REPORT COMMENTS

They do not deserve any tax exempt status for simply being a religious organization. Other things may qualify some of them, but it should not be a default state for any church.REPORT COMMENTS

Churches should be held to the same standard as other charitable organizations and be required to follow the same laws (ie: reporting their income and usage of said income) as the rest of us. Failure to do this should cost the churches refusing to be taxed.REPORT COMMENTS

Churches will never pay taxes yet will continue to be active in politics. Corporations will always get kick backs amounting to free money while advocating for citizens to pay more. Politicians will always get tons of perks while removing perks for average people. Police will always harm and murder while other police say and do nothing. Religion will always feel the need to help God by giving him a tax break while trying to pass religious laws. Yay America....we're number one.REPORT COMMENTS

Church nowadays is nothing but a business to scam people out of their hard earned money for the church committee to squander and use for their own pleasure. Even Jesus said render unto ceasar what is ceasar's. Religious organizations MUST be held accountable to pay taxes like the rest of US citizens, no exceptions!!!REPORT COMMENTS
