Support NSF funding for Political Science Research

Scientific research is crucial to understand how countries can transition to democracy, how to reduce terrorism, or how the government can protect civil rights and support economic growth.

The National Science Foundation's program must continue to support high quality research in political science.

The mission of the NSF is ?to promote the progress of science; to advance the national health, prosperity, and welfare; and to secure the national defense.? These are concerns shared by the citizens of the United States and its elected leaders, and they are directly addressed by NSF-funded political science research. How can government become more efficient? What causes terrorism? How does technology influence democratization in the developing world? When do sanctions work? This research provides profoundly valuable insights about our current world.

In the end, rigorous, evidence-based research on political science is important because politics can dramatically change the lives of citizens - because politics and goverment change lives.
