I am pagan, so this book is not against my religion. Rather, I am the mother of a sensitive, multiracial child who could not handle this book at his current maturity level. This book would disturb him on many levels. As a child, I sought out and read many similar books which were well within my reading level (always advanced), but far beyond my level of maturity. These books definitely influenced my view of the world, sexuality, interpersonal relationships and social issues. I think books required for reading lists should be appropriate for the maturity level of the children who will be reading it. This book is not appropriate for children and adolescents younger than 17.REPORT COMMENTS
