Please avoid rescend H4EAD. This is only given to people who are in their way to permanent residency and citizenship. Such impact will impact economy, create void of skilled workers in job market and create disstress amongst high skilled community as they can not help their spouse achieve their dreams. There is a strong reason that why this provision was created. There is no proof that such provision affects job to american people. In fact, many H4EADs create job. They are on their path to enter in job market already as you have provided them approved I-140 so its better to allow them to contribute to economy earlier. -

Please save H42EAD. After getting H42EAD, earning job was not an easy path too. Trainings, Certifications, hundreds of interviews, Low salaries and then finally a job. It took 26 months to get an offer letter. Now after 14 months of job, there is a chance i become jobless again. Its cruel to imagine but we are going through this. H4 Ead holders work and pay taxes. While USA is talking about legalizing all other people who dont have any papers and they jumped the borders. They dont contribute to the country!! Still they get free Medicare and all other benefits!! We, h4 ead workers pay taxes... a lot.. still dont get anything, and fighting for a right to work!! Also, an H1 holder, pays a lot in taxes and when their h1 gets revoked for some reason, they leave the country. Why dont they ask for the tax money back which they didnt use for their own benefits yet?? This is wrong. H4 ead holders must be able to work.REPORT COMMENTS

First scope of H4EAD needs to be understood, it is for spouses of H1B who have approved I140 but are not able to get work permit due to long wait times to get a greencard, especially for nationals of Indian and China. Most of the spouses are equally talented and most of them try to apply for H1B with less sucess , only then they take the path of H1B. I have one query those who oppose H4EAD, are you fine with giving greencard (right to work in short) to spouses who immigrate through family route and other non-deserving route but are not willing to give EAD to the talented spouses just because they are born in India/China. This is highly discriminatory based on country of birth and Indian spouses are getting targeted just because US green-card system is broken. You are willing to have no country based quota for H1B but have country based quota for greencards.REPORT COMMENTS

Requesting all to get their facts right about H4ead. H4 Ead is NOT given to all spouses of H1b visa holders, but only to those people whose i140 (green card application) has been approved. Initially it would only take a few years to get a green card and then both (primary applicant and his/her spouse can work). However, because of administrative backlog GCs for some countries are taking approx. 20 to 30 years to arrive...and it's only going to increase (120 yrs)...that is more than an entire lifeline. That is the reason h4 EAD was invented to give relief to those people stuck in backlog...who would have otherwise been already a green card holder and working. People whose green card applications are not filed or rejected DO NOT get h4 ead. Please do not remove H4 EAD. Removing it will only cause families to disrupt...unpaid mortgages...heavy debts...depressed and desparate individuals, as you would be essentially forcing one person to not be working, even having skills, for his/ her entire life...just because of an administrative backlog.REPORT COMMENTS

Here, people are commenting that first priority should go to citizens and I don't think that anybody disagrees with it. But when it’s claimed that citizens are losing jobs to H1B spouses, then it’s not true for most of the cases. People only get to know about the stories when citizen looses jobs to a H1B or their spouse, because those stories are covered in the news. Citizens who are selected over an H1B or their spouse never get attention because that’s how things are suppose to be and there are no complaints against that. Most of the people don't know the challenges of finding a job when you are on H4EAD. The first question an immigrant faces while applying for a job is about their visa even before going to their qualification and work experience. In most of the cases your resume doesn’t even reach the hiring manager because you are not a citizen. The other thing which is often said is that, “Well you should have known what you are getting into before marrying an H1B”. I agree with this too. And most of the people are mentally prepared for a gap of 5-6 years, even though they had a flourishing career in their life before they came to India. Some even take Masters Degree in US to cover the gap. In lot of times, these career women use this gap to raise their family, like any other woman, but it gets difficult when you went to enter the work force. You don’t have any right to work. Confident and successful moms raise successful kids. Most of the families because have been here for about 10 years, they have American kids. Women, who are helpless and dependent and no con troll of their life, would they be able to raise future Americans the way they deserve. Most of the women will not abandon their families and kids here, so they would suffer. But along with them future Americans would suffer too.REPORT COMMENTS

I wanted to point out that in most countries including Canada and UK, spouses of even legal temporary workers are issued 'OPEN work permits' which allow them to work without restrictions. In the US, the spouses of “just H1B” visa holder (without i-140) have no authority or right to work, remain jobless and economically dependent, vulnerable to abuse, discrimination, financial burden in the society for several years. Only after H1B visa holder has an approved i-140 after 3-6 years of employment, the spouse is allowed to even obtain an EAD. Now if H4 EAD is revoked, these spouses will have to wait 15-20 years or even longer for their spouse’s green card before they can even think about earning money for their family. Not permitting legal temporary residents (spouses) to work goes against the international human rights law – ‘right to work’ which is enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We fully support stricter H1B rules but after being granted H1B on the basis of specialty occupation, there MUST be protection against unemployment for the legal temporary workers and their spouses. SaveJobUSA’s fight is against misuse of H1B visas, and has already yielded fruit with stricter H1B regulations. There are mechanisms in place to protect US worker’s interests with LCA petition, and these rules should be made stricter if needed. Eliminating spouses of legal non-immigrants and legal immigrants (waiting for decades in line for green cards) from workforce will increase discrimination, financial stress and rates of unemployment in the US.REPORT COMMENTS

I am still not able to understand the reason behind revoking H4 EAD. We are legally immigrant and law abide people. Paying our taxes on time and helping american economy grow. At the same time H4 ead is not given to everyone on H1B visa. It's only given to the spouse of H1B holder whose I 140 is approved which is like future citizens of United States of America. Majority of our kids are born here and already citizens. Now if we talk about the argument of taking jobs of American Citizens , Here we need to have trust in our recruitment system. Let the person with best education and expertise get what they deserve. Or are we trying to say just because people on Visa are less qualified than citizens. Is it going to be good for community either ? Doctor on Visa will not be able to work as someone who is citizen is not able to crack interview as a clerk. I really do not see any logical reason here.
