We are indentured servants and slaves for life with interest that compounds daily, and lending rates higher than cars or homes, just because we wanted a higher education in our own home country. Outrageous!!REPORT COMMENTS

At the very least bankruptcy protections should be returned to Private Student Loans as they are like any unsecured debt. I agree all loans of any type should not have bankruptcy protections taken away.REPORT COMMENTS

300, 000 in student loan debt both private and federal. Simply because i pursued higher education to become a psychologist. At my income, i will never be able to own a home. My wonderful credit score has now plummeted thanks to defaulting on my private loans. America, i need help! Please, help those trying to better themselves and not just those multimillionaires who chose extravagant lifestyle lending to their bankruptsy needs. Please.REPORT COMMENTS

If I can get a credit card and using said card max it out buying liquor, video games, and porn then file bankruptcy on it and a person can't file bankruptcy on education debt then something is inherently wrong with the situation.REPORT COMMENTS

Feb 4th, 2015Someone from De Pere, WI writes:
with no consumer protections there is no reasonable consideration from the creditor to the debtor to settle the debt in good faith. This is especially true with private student loan companies. These creditors if there is no consumer protection should not be allowed to require credit requirements or co-signers.REPORT COMMENTS
