I'm a 47 year old public school teacher still buried in debt. I owe over $130 k in student loans bc I borrowed while I was a single mother. There is no way I'll pay off my debt with my current salary. Please give me relief so I can start again.

The current education loan system in the United States is a near complete predatory and oppressive system causing enormous financial harm to those who trusted it. I urge all congressional members to strongly support HR 449. No member of congress or congressional wanna be's get any of my support or my vote until and unless they support this bill or a TERRA ( Troubled Education Reform & Relief Act ).

I could have racked up a credit card debt of 80,000 from luxurious vacations, plastic surgeries, and living a lavish lifestyle then declared bankruptcy and get a fresh start. Instead I took out 80k in private student loans. Fast forward ten years later, with a low paying nonprofit job, I am looking at 300k in student loan debt and growing. I should be allowed to have a fresh start. I will give back my degree that failed me. Why should student loan debt be treated any differently than credit card debt?

Had a better job making more money before attending university full time. Lack of jobs with real income has caused stagnation and zero growth prospects even without considering huge student loan payments!

My university promised to "help" me find work in my fielwd. It was all a lie. No help = no job despite great work record, great credentials, and the ability to benefit my employer.

You are impoverishing students and undermining the future of our country. Couldn't the greed be less excessive?

Dear Representative, It is deeply unconstitutional to say that student loan debt cannot be discharged in bankruptcy. It's causing tuition to skyrocket because the entire sector dealing with higher education and loans and collections knows they can get away with anything. The US government is living off the backs of it's citizens by forcing the population to pay back crushing amounts of student debt due to overblown tuitions. If we return bankruptcy protections the colleges and loan companies will no longer be able to constantly take advantage of students. If you would like 300 square foot houses to be the only option for the us population let the madness continue and ignore this problem. The entire economy is going to come crashing down due to the greedy people of this country who lobby for crazy unfair laws. Students are not criminals for gods sakes. Thanks! Jane

Though this bill may not help my family, since we are military and that in itself makes another set of complications. I am in high hopes Congress will see the importance of passing protections to reestablish our country's economic status.
