It was 106 degrees outside on Friday 9/8/12. Add 10 to 15 degree's to that on an un air conditioned school bus. Lets all ask Corporate or Congress to ride with us in there suits and ties. So we can see how many have heat strokes. Just a thought.REPORT COMMENTS

School Buses should be looked at by OSHA and protected. Parents need to wake up and realize that their kids ride on these buses and hold the companies accountable to take care of them like they tell them they do at the school board meetings. They transport America's Most precious Cargo.....our future leaders!!! :)REPORT COMMENTS

I have been driving for 28 years and yes it gets hot and the pressure builds. Its not bad if you are allowed to open the roof vents to let the pressure out of the bus, but we have been told we can't open them. Even with all the windows open there is just to much pressure. On top of that, drivers are surrounded by heaters that leak heat. Also, we are closest to the motor, which is creating excessive heat. My head starts hurting from the pressure, my sinus's are full of pressure, my eyes start hurting, my leggs are hot , my temper gets going. I can't stand it., you could have a stroke. The days not over and your exhausted. That in its self is a hazard, an exhausted bus driver. What irritates me more are the liars that make these rules (our drivers are being lied to about the vents) who don't have to drive bus's or never have and dont have a clue about the heat and dont care.. Heat is a health hazard, especially when you had humidity. We need to get all parents involved, because nothing will change until then, because your employer, like mine, sure dont. I am not concerned about an a/c on my bus, but I need to be able to use every means possible to vent the pressure and you have to use the roof vents. Its no different than your house or the weather when you have a ridge of high pressure , you can have 50 mph winds, but you are not going to get relief until that ridge of high pressure is gone. And let me add, you better put Obama back in office if you want any hope of things being done. Romney would just recommend firing you and down sizing, cuz your costing him money. I'm still angry. it was 109 friday and the humidity was so high, my head is still pounding and my sinuses are pressurized. I can only take so much medicine. In addition; maybe, we all should contact insurance companies and workmans comp, because when a worker gets sick because of this, who has to pay? They do. Its to their benefit as well for workers to be in healthy enviroments. They could threaten rate increases or something.REPORT COMMENTS

As a former Morgan County, Georgia School Bus Driver, terminated after reporting suspected child abuse and/or neglect, I can attest to the fact that some of the longest Morgan County school bus routes are NOT airconditioned while shorter routes with drivers with LESS seniority, are driving brand new airconditioned buses.REPORT COMMENTS

I drive for a great district but the heat in Aug. and Sept. is ridiculous. We had 6 weeks of 100+ days last year & recorded 125-130 degrees where I sit. I am on there for 3 hours! Kids are on for 45 min to 1 hr. This should not happen!REPORT COMMENTS
