My three year old rides a school bus and the bus driver clearly suffers in the heat. When I see my daughter sweating and red faced coming off of the bus, I wonder how this is legal.

This should be extended to private school bus rental companies as well.

Funding is based on the number of kids riding. If kids aren't riding busses because it is too hot..... The funding drops. Heat exhaustion & stroke is serious and can cause serious illness & death. If the driver is impaired due to the heat, that effects the safety of the whole bus.

This is an ethical decision that OSHA and our government must make the politically correct and ethically reasonable decision to protect our students and to those who drive these buses!!!

why does everyone seem to think kids are fabrege eggs these days? I rode on a school bus all my school days in the Texas heat, sure sometimes it sacked, but overall it was just fine. I will honestly admit I don't know the bus drivers plight, but I do know open shop workers have to go through the same thing and all they get is a fan, which the bus drivers have. what about the increased emissions from school buses having to have more power to drive air conditioners

I am a student, as well as a school bus driver, who did not know that school drivers were not protected or the bus was not considered as a work place, because it is. I spend sometime 7 to 14 hours a day on the bus and I want to be protected and the children as precious as they are should be included.

my bus didn't have heat in 7 degree weather this January 23, 2014, days prior or after, for 3+ hours a day, which caused stiffness and cold stress to my lower back. kept reporting it, but it was never fixed, and one day a new mechanic came to tell me the bus was too old and the air blowing will not heat the bus, plus the door would come open while driving sometimes, but they claim they didn't have any buses. but as soon as I gave them a two week notice to quit, the found a bus for me to drive, by this time, the damage in my lower back was already done. something has to be done. I've had my CDL's for 17 years and never experienced the neglect of a worker like this before, and I've drove for two other different counties. This county needs assistance and fast.

In Texas where the temperature hits triple digits it should be mandatory ac. Ive seen children fall asleep soaked and dehydrated because of the heat. Its dangerous for the children and driver.

My 3rd grade granddaughter has been sick every single day since school has started from the lack of cool air on her bus ride home! This is ridiculous, the temperature are in the triple digits. Heat strokes/exhaustion can kill a person especially a young child!! Protect our children!

Not having A/C on buses is insane, particularly in areas where temperatures frequently reach triple digits like Texas, the state I live in. My son comes home off the bus with red cheeks and sweaty hair every day after being on the bus for 30 minutes...

Teachers cannot have more than 33 students in a classroom but they stick 50 kids on a moving hot loud tin can for half an hour or more. Heat exhaustion hurts our bus drivers and students daily yet it has been accepted by our society as a norm. ridiculous.

Forget the heaters...kids can layer up. They need ac!! Getting off the bus dripping with sweat is unacceptable. How about babies being left in cars....what happens....they die! Hello!

I think air conditioning units are especially important in hot climates. We have heat on buses, but not air conditioning.

SCHOOL BUSES NEED AIR CONDITIONING! I live in Southern California In the City of El Centro, where temperatures reach 120 degrees Fahrenheit or more during the summer. I feel upset, something needs to be done. IT IS IRRATIONAL THAT PRISIONERS ARE TRANSPORTED TO ONE PLACE TO ANOTHER COMFORTABLY ON AIR CONDITIONED BUSES, WHILE OUR CHILDREN, OUR STUDENTS ARE BEING TRANSPORTED WITH NO AC. We the parents need to speak for our children, they are the ones suffering the high temperatures on buses that are not equipped with AC. Our children deserve better! PLEASE! SCHOOL BUSES NEED AIR CONDITIONING.
