Gastroparesis took my 15yr job from me since I could not longer perform my duties. Yet, disability didn't think I was sick enough AND unemployment thought I was too sick to work. WTH is a person to do?! We sold our home before we lost it and now we follow where my husband's job takes him so he can support us. Nausea, Vomiting, Dizzy Spells, Fainting, Pain 24-7, Nutrition issues and the fear to eat (since it often makes us sicker ~ stomach does not process food adequately or timely). So now you have a glimpse of the daily life we fight for, just to hope we will have a 'good day' and get out of the house with our family and not have an episode. No real treatment option, no cure and limited understanding by the medical world, leaves us feeling hopeless. This is WHY it is so very important to get awareness ~ awareness can bring funding ~ funding is needed for research!!!!REPORT COMMENTS

Living with Gastroparesis has not just affected myself, but my boyfriend and the people around me. I never dreamed in a million years my life would be turned upside down and I would never know what a normal life would be again! My daily life consists of chancing eating something that will cause hours of nonstop vomiting and nausea, sleepless nights, little to no energy. My life as I knew it died a little of a year ago, but it's only been in the last 6 months that my GP has worsened, my GI Dr. looked at me and pretty much said there is no hope and started ignoring my phone calls to his office. There needs to be more research/ studies done on Digestive diseases.REPORT COMMENTS

Eating is something most of us do for nourishment last. The pleasure of tasting, enjoying textures and temperatures and the social aspect of food are all pleasures we enjoy often too often. Imagine what it would be like to have pain make you dread even taking a small drink or a bite of your favorite food. That is what people with this disease experience every day.
