I am a Psychologist, an adjunct professor at Columbia University and an expert on grief and loss. I have worked with hundreds of bereaved families and seen firsthand the devestation that losing a child has on a parent. It is my hope that the necessary changes are made so that parents will be able to qualify for the benifits that they so desperately deserve after the devesating loss of a child.Jan 21st, 2011Someone from Raleigh, NC signed.

The death of a child is one of the most (if not the most) traumatic experiences of one's life. Without time to grieve, the impact of the experience can be debilitating. I have been through this experience and was fortunate to work for a company that was sympathetic to my grief. However, I know of others who suffered a similar loss who weren't so lucky.REPORT COMMENTS

My business partners supported my tremendously after the loss of my son Julian. I don't know what I would have done without their support. I do know, however, that many people are not as lucky as I am. I hope that this amendment can provide some relief to others not in my fortunate position.REPORT COMMENTS
