We need to inform the public that PTSD is real. My son had PTSD after a tour to Iraq, he took his own life after he got home. I believe PTSD is a injury that you may or may not die from. They deserve a purple heart for their injuries. Part of my sons problem was, he had people that didn't believe he had any problems. Yet it was consuming him, the flash backs, his anger, he came home a totally different person. He was never the same young man that we knew.REPORT COMMENTS

I am a Disabled Vietnam Vet and also suffer from PTSD among other health problems I have. I have been told there is no cure only meds and biting our tongue to put up with it. I went through a suicidal phase for more then a year but am still here, obviously! From time to time I get that feeling of not wanting to live so that i don't have to put up with it but I don't have the courage to try to take my life!REPORT COMMENTS

PTSD is something that should be taken as serious as any other medical condition or disability. The brain is the most important part of us. It's the boss of our bodies and the battery that allows us to think, feel, make decisions and so forth. Education and Awareness is very much needed. I I personally say "Thank You" to all of our service men and women who have served our country and making the ultimate sacrifice. My husband served in Afghanistan and also has PTSD.REPORT COMMENTS
