If marijuana goes across the board legal even people like me could use it with out worrying about the drug test it would increase things from stores to farmers the tax dollars from sales of the weed and stores money increase and farmers from weed to the food farmers would increase people go back to work more money is generated as well if it goes state by state then it is only legal for some if you knew how many smoke it you would find out making it leagal as booze on a federal level would generate lots more money and jails wouldn’t be clogged and people wouldn’t loose jobs in turn taxes to be paid will be cut as well just sit and think about itREPORT COMMENTS

Legalize for adult consumption. I feel like 18 is appropriate, as I feel it’s a safer choice than alcohol. It’s safer than tobacco. Overdose is an impossibly. Legalization equals revenue, less crime, fewer dui’s, less domestic violence etc.REPORT COMMENTS

Marijuana ruined my kids lives, they are both very addicted and when they stop they get sick and can't sleep or eat, this drug should not be legal, its ruining lives and putting others at risk when people are driving while they are high, I was almost in an accident because of a driver who was under the influence. Lives should be more important than money!REPORT COMMENTS

Oct 22nd, 2018Bill S. from New Market, AL writes:
The only reason Marijuana remains illegal on a federal level is because the biggest spending congressional lobby group is pharmaceutical interest, out spending even big oil by a margin of 2 to 1. Having sof much money to spread around and pad the wallets of Congressmen is great for them, but bad for Americans...especially those that can benefit from medical use of marijuana. Do you think that pharmaceutical companies don't realize what a blow to their bottom line would be created if Americans had legal access to marijuana? If they could have found a way to patent the plant itself it would have been legal decades ago, but since they can't they only see it as competition to their man-made narcotics. It truly is a "miracle plant" because it can be used to treat the symptoms of so many conditions, and before it was criminalized in 1937 all doctors used it to treat everything from colicky babies, to migraines, to women's menstation pains, to getting addicts free of their addiction to opium/herion/morphine/alcohol. It's all about the money, and when the politicians realize that they can get their wallets padded more from legal marijuana than from the interests that lobby to keep it illegal they will then legalize it....in other word with it legal there would be more money on the coffers for them to steal!REPORT COMMENTS

100% should be legalized, it has been proven in many ways to be helpful, physical health, mental health, and help with creating biodegradable useable materials(rope, plastics, and more). Getting out of national debt could happen with complete legalization. Study this, that, those, we have enough info from legalization in other states for a green light on marijuana!REPORT COMMENTS

Mar 1st, 2018Jennifer B. from Clarksville, TN writes:
Legalizing marijuana on a national level would be a financial responsible decision. As a nation we could start reaping the financial benefits that up until this point, only individual states and the District of Columbia have done. With legalization, not just decriminalization, the potential for new revenue from taxes on the product and from income taxes from the new jobs created, would go to fund much needed programs, such as education, national defense, healthcare and even interest payments on the debt, to name a few. Also, with the new legal product, would come the new industry. New jobs means more spending and less strain on programs aimed at helping those less fortunate. Not only would there be a new industry, but there would be an increased need in industries already established that provide services and products needed for the marijuana industry. Some examples would be construction, legal, real estate, the list goes on. On top of all the new revenue and industry, the decline in prohibition efforts would save tax dollars on police efforts, incarceration and even the lasting effects the drug conviction has on a person, such as being unemployable, unable to attain housing, etc. The financial ramifications on a national level are staggering if our law makers would just look at the numbers. Over $131.8 billion dollars is estimated to be created in tax dollars alone on a national level in the next 8 years, with an additional 1 million jobs created by that time as well. Imagine the impact those numbers could have on our nation in a time when the federal deficit in nearing the $1trillion mark.REPORT COMMENTS

We need to legalize at the federal level now. Millions of people are suffering because of big pharmaceuticals driving up costs. Legalize marijuana and it will generate national revenue and billions of dollars in taxes. Stop thinking of your pocket books on pharmaceutical companies and think of the people that need this god given plant to survive.REPORT COMMENTS

Marijuana was originally made illegal on baseless untruths. One of which was "marijuana will make your wife have sexual intercourse with minorities". It's laughable and somewhat scary we speak on having evolved and mock ignorance in the shows and movies but this issue of ignorance is swept under the rug. If cigarettes and alcohol, which have no medicinal use can be legal, why would something that has actually studies of proof that show medicinal uses be something someone should be forced to hide in shame just in case. I used recreational and now medicinal to stay off 9 different masking medications they tried to force on me. The fact that Jeff sessions would rather cram these opioid only options down my throat is offensive and oppressive. I have a daughter and cannot be a decent mom on those medications. However I am an incredible mom with my vaporizer and have zero shame in choosing vaporizing over medications such as Clonazepam(anti anxiety), phenergan(nausea med), soma(muscle relaxer not suggested for linger than 6 months due to cardiac arrest yet they tried to make me a "lifer") ,oxycodone (pain med) , ambient(sleep med), Zoloft (depression med), bentyl (antispasmodic), lyrica (nerve pain pill) , and dexilant (heartburn). I would LOVE for ANYONE to argue against me that THAT is a better option. Most of the people against it have never even had to worry about that. I however refuse to live a slave to masking medications for my fibromyalgia, gastroparesis, and IBS. It's pathetic I don't have easy access to a better alternative and that I have to do something "illegal" when the medications had me in a haze.REPORT COMMENTS

Shafer Commission, formally known as the National Commission on Marihuana and Drug Abuse, was appointed by U.S. President Richard Nixon in the early 1970s. Its chairman was former Pennsylvania Governor Raymond P. Shafer. The commission issued a report on its findings in 1972 that called for the decriminalization of marijuana possession in the United States. The report was ignored by the White House, but is an important document against prohibition. This what Nixon did against all Americans. Then to let J. Session false facts and blind morals to the right wing Republicans is wrong. Please look in to your heart felonies and jail is immoral. It only destroys families and a person life.REPORT COMMENTS
