I am losing over $400 a month because of these stupid rules. I worked for 27 years for the State of Ohio and over 15 years in the private sector. Do something for American and repeal these laws. Give the average citizen a chance to live in retirement!!!!!!! -

It's not fair that I cannot collect spousal benefits just because I am a CSRS retiree. Law allows for unemployed spouses to collect on their husband's Social Security, yet, a person like me is penalized for working and not eligible for spousal benefits under my husbands Social Security. President Trump believes in fairness, how about presenting this to our President to make a fair decision.REPORT COMMENTS

I am a retired teacher who is greatly affected by the government pension offset. This bill needs to be amended. It is unfair to many US citizens. Why should my spouse`s benefits be reduced by two-thirds ? This is totally absurd! I am now working at a position in which I am paying social security. Once again I will not receive benefits that I am entitled to. HELP!REPORT COMMENTS

Retired as a public employee of State of Ohio, and serving as a delegate and officer of the Mid Ohio Chapter of OCSEA. I welcome the introduction of legislation to repeal the GPO. Our chapter offered resolutions to OCSEA conventions concerning pensions. Retirees that have contributed to Social Security should be able to collect proper benefits would be received had they not been Public Employees.REPORT COMMENTS

Everyone should be aware that this unfair legislation was passed under the reign of the House Ways and Means Chairman Representative Daniel Rostenkowski of Chicago. Rostenkowski was so corrupt he actually went to prison for stealing from his House of Representative's postage allowance account. Think about it, this thief who stole "stamps" passed legislation that has stolen money from those of us who paid it and are entitled to it. He was the quintessential Chicago Democrat low down dirty thief.REPORT COMMENTS

I am affected by GPO. I was a federal worker for forty plus years of service retiring 6 days prior to my 70th birthday. Approx. Feb 2012 I began receiving Social Security Spousal (Widow) benefits. In August 2016 I spoke to 2 Social Security employees/representatives in 2 separate offices, prior to my retirement and both emphatically stated that I had been misinformed when told my Social Security benefits would not be affected by my retirement. Just received a letter from Social Security that my benefits will be terminated due to my retirement from federal service (CSRS). SCREWED yet again by the government to whom I gave 40 years of loyal service.REPORT COMMENTS

I taught school for over thirty years. Prior to that I paid into social security. Now very recently retired, I would like to access all of the monies I have worked so hard for all of my life. Teachers are not given an option to continue with medical coverage after retirement. We have to pay out of pocket until we reach Medicare age. At that point our premium goes down considerably, but not completely. My social security will help tremendously to meet this financial obligation. However, with WEP I can only receive less than half of what I am entitled to. How unfair is that? I am penalized because I have another retirement to draw on. PLEASE do something about this! I have worked so very hard all of my life - allow me the dignity to continue to be self sufficient after retirement. Allow me access to what is rightfully mine to begin with.REPORT COMMENTS

If I retire my "windfall pension" (approx $500 a month) will cause my SS and spousal SS to be reduced to $500. Subtract Medicare insurance & maybe someone can tell me how to live on $900 a month? Why didn't I save? Ex-husband paid no child support for 2 sons. Still working full-time at 75 to keep from burdening family. Good at pinching pennies but this is ridiculous!REPORT COMMENTS

This can't exist any longer. It should have never existed to begin with. The WEP/GPO must be "Eliminated and Repealed now. It should also be retroactive. "All Americans are supposed to be treated equal." This is supposed to be the United States of America. It all boils down to one topic. "Working for the Government is a disgrace." The WEP/GPO means one thing, "Stealing from the Americans"REPORT COMMENTS

I have paid into the Social Security System well over $100,000 during my first 20 years of employment. I since took a job working for a government agency and I expect to receive a pension from there. There is nothing right about reducing my Social Security payments based on the fact that I will be receiving a government pension. I earned both, and should receive benefits from both. Will the U.S. Government reduce Social Security payments for everyone who receives a pension, regardless of its source? I don't think it will, so why are government workers being singled out by this ridiculous requirement?REPORT COMMENTS
