I am not a student involved in the competition, but was a visitor to the 2009 competition. It was an amazing experience and one that I would not have been able to have if the competition had been held elsewhere. Please do not punish the student competitors by moving the venue with so little time to adapt their designs. These students are the future of our green economy, give them a chance to show the country what the future can look like.REPORT COMMENTS

I visited the 2005 solar decathlon and found it a very educational experience. Saw many energy saving ideas that we incorported into a small vacation home in Montana. Part of the positive experience was visiting the houses on the National Mall. PLEASE do not move from the Mall.REPORT COMMENTS

A few years ago a young man of my acquaintance Was on the team from the University of Maryland to design and build a solar house. It was on display on the National Mall and it and all the other structures in the competition were amazing. We need to encourage this kind of thing in our budding scientists and their work needs to be showcased in a very prominent place. My son was involved in the design and construction of the entry from the University of Maryland displayed on the Mall in October 2007. UMD came in 2nd out of the 20 entries. It was a beautiful home which displayed considerable talent in how homes could be more sustainable in this day when all US citizens use far too much energy for daily life. I cannot believe they are being requested to relocate a competition, especially at this late date.REPORT COMMENTS
