I got oral herpes in 2008 from simply having fun and kissing boys! Young and dumb and not fully aware nor educated about the transmission of cold sores. They have affected me dramatically as I am one of the ones who get OBs and when they come they are very huge and extremely painful. Not to mention so foolishly embarrassing :"( ...I want my life back! I will never kiss a "stranger" again!!! God help us all. PLEASE HELP THE SMARTYS, whoever they are, FIND A CURE!!! This is NOT just a condition that affects people that are promiscuous. Just because you have this doesn't mean you are nasty, yet that is how we are treated. This condition takes an extreme emotional toll on the people living with it. Many find themselves alone as they are rejected for being infected. What about the people that were raped and infected? What about the people that were cheated on while being a faithful partner and infected? It's not fair. There are several trials for promising drugs that could permanately surpress the virus, but for many, funding is an issue. Also, having HSV 2 increases the risk of contracting HIV, which is also another prevalent health issue. Possibly curing herpes could open the doors to curing HIV and cancer.
