I'd always thought that "E Pluribus Unum" was our national motto because it so perfectly describes the ideals and strength of the United States of America. I was very disappointed to realize today that it is actually "In God We Trust", which essentially means "Let's wait and see what happens", a passive and embarrassing message. We need a national motto that everyone can be proud of and inspired by: "E Pluribus Unum"REPORT COMMENTS

In God We Trust violates the constitution as it establishes a religion. Change the motto back to E Pluribus UnumREPORT COMMENTS

Ridiculous that some religious zealot forced his religious beliefs on every person in the country in 1956. I want it off my money!REPORT COMMENTS

How can we feel like we can receive fairness as non-believers, when our court houses are embossed with religious writings and there are requests to swear on books that we believe to be fiction?REPORT COMMENTS

The people of the United States should not be forced under a motto regarding a God which many do not even believe in. It is a atrocious that our motto has not already changed back to a more accurate representation of this country.REPORT COMMENTS

The original motto is much more true to the foundation of America and the way it should remain than "in god we trust." Freedom is everything to America and freedom of religion or lack thereof is basic.REPORT COMMENTS
