To whom it may concern, my issue is that nobody wants to hire someone with a criminal background. I believe that is where all the unemployment is and where all the government assistance is going. I don't think it's fair that if someone makes a mistake in the past and works hard by going to school for training to redeem themselves, that they are still shunned out for the next ten yrs or even the rest of their lives from getting a job and starting over. I don't know how far back background checks go, but I think it's a little ridiculous not to hire someone who made a mistake in the past and is trying to do the right thing now. I would greatly appreciate if this position is looked at and supported because I'm a single mother who made a mistake in the past and I don't want to be on government assistance for the rest of my life when I have the potential to go out there and work just like anybody else to support myself and my children instead of letting the government take care of us.
