The Justice Department Should Support Child Sex Abuse Victims

During the past two years, victims of child pornography have been seeking restitution in federal courts throughout the country. Using a long forgotten passage in the Violence Against Women Act championed by then-Senator Joe Biden in 1994, child sex abuse victims are asking federal judges to award the mandatory restitution guaranteed by this law.
Unfortunately, the Justice Department has abandoned these victims on appeal by advancing a legal standard which the courts themselves consider unworkable. The Justice Department's position is effectively preventing hundreds of child victims from receiving any money from the tens of thousands of child molesters and pedophiles who collect and trade child sex abuse images.
Last month the Justice Department filed a brief opposing child sex abuse victims in the Supreme Court. Now the Justice Department is asking the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals to nullify a court-ordered million dollar award to a child sex abuse victim, arguing that the legal standard which resulted in the award is too easy.
It's crazy that some lawyer in Washington, DC thinks it's a good idea to expend taxpayer dollars to fight against the interests of child sex abuse victims everywhere in the country!
Why is the Justice Department arguing for something which the courts of appeal say is unworkable and un-provable, while child sex abuse victims are left with nothing?
Congress should immediately contact the Justice Department and ask why the Criminal Division is opposing the victims in In re: Amy Unknown in the Fifth Circuit and United States v. Shawn Crawford in the Sixth Circuit.
Congress should also hold hearings to find out why the Justice Department is siding with convicted child molesters and pedophiles instead of child sex abuse victims.

Victims of child pornography are just that.. VICTIMS!! They have every right to have restitution!! The pedophiles, child molesters, pornography rings..they all need to pay for their actions.. not just in prison.. but financially be held accountable to their victims.. The victims have life long painful memories. A friend of mines daughter age 5 was just molested by her friends husband. He is military & i am sure it will be handled appropriately.. but these innocents need not only physical treatment but they need help emotionally.. and this sometimes lasts their entire lives as it isnt something u just "get over!" They should be held accountable to their victims ongoing needs finacially.. after all they are the reason they have those problems!
Children Services and medical doctors covered up the rapes/sodomies of my four year old that occurred in foster care 17 years ago. I am still waiting for justice. Two grown men are the perpetrators of that foster care situation.
In order for charges of child sexual abuse to take place the doctors are required to give specifics regarding the injuries to the child. The doctors don't want to get involved, so they fail to give details documenting the child's injuries, or how recently the harm was done. They will pretend that they never examined the childs private parts, and if they didn't examine the child that is negligence, and especially in sexual abuse cases. In one instance in which I was present (more than one month after the assaults on my daughter) the doctor corrected an abnormality and never wrote "what he did" in his notes, but was misleading in those medical notes. He completely failed to describe what took place during the visit with him. I actually pointed out a very abnormal finding in regards to my daughter to another doctor (pediatrician), and she also pretended that she never observed the abnormality. Child Services gave my daughter to her dad that was later diagnosed as having sociopathic personality. He is a convicted felon, was dealing drugs, and living with five room-mates (two that were on serious psychiatric medications). They left my daughter there with him for one year and I wasn't permitted to see my child for that entire year. There were no women living in the house. I went to the restroom one year later and there was urine, and fecal matter encrusted all under the toilet seat and inside the bowl. That is the toilet that my daughter had to use. One of the room-mates was going into her bedroom and molesting her at night according to my daughter. That room-mate had sores all over his torso according to my daughter. He was on psychiatric medication for severe emotional problems. When my daughter was examined for fondling by grandpa the doctor failed to examine her for any earlier traumatic sexual abuse. My four year old daughter had been raped and sodomized more than 2 months earlier in foster care. She had been taken from me only because she had told a psychologist that her granfather had rubbed her vagina hard (fondled her). Child Services waited until my daughter was visually healed from the rape and sodomy that occurred in foster care to get her into the child sex abuse expert (more than two months later). I asked the doctor why he didn't look for rape and sodomy, because they can use an instrument that will see much earlier abuse. There are changes in the tissue that can be seen with the right instrument. He said that Children Services never gave him any history of rape or sodomy. And CPS knew that she had been raped. They had a 10 mm (no hymen left) diagnosis after the rapes/sodomy in foster care. Even that first Ohio pediatric doctor tried to minimize the serious damage. My 4 year old daughter was raped and sodomized by a policeman and his brother (the foster father). The FBI was investigating the policeman at the time of these horrific assaults on my daughter (an innocent little girl). To this day more than 17 years later there have never been so much as charges on either of those two men or the foster care mother. I am sure that those vicious attacks on my little daughter were done for the purposes of child pornography or satanic worship. I still want justice, and I will seek that, until the day I die.
We must do everything we can to get both the criminal and civil Statutes of Limitation regarding Childhood Sexual Abuse removed in every one of the fifty states.
At present there are too many states where more protection is given to sexual predators and the individuals and institutions enabling and facilitating such abuse.
Just look at the present situation in Philadelphia and Pennsylvania.

This is a top issue for me. I advocate for child abuse victims.
South Carolina has granted custody to a REGISTERED CHILD SEX OFFENDER who was convicted of molesting his minor stepdaughter from his former marriage. Now, South Carolina Family Court knowingly places yet another helpless child in the hands of this Registered Child Sex Offender, even allowing his attorney to refer to him as "an excellent role model". This type of blatant child endangerment must stop! While it is tragic that these things happen it is equally tragic that nothing is ever done about it!
