Family visits for life term inmates would benefit them, and those visit with them in many ways. Gives the inmate something to look forward to and a chance to share those things deep in their hearts that can't normally be expressed in a letter, or brief visit through glass. Thank you for taking time to read this and being open to lifers having family visits.
Human rights are the solution...so let's be humbling to the famiies
Its a well known fact that inmates who have family visits, and inmates that have family support are the least to get into any trouble.
It isn't about sex and getting pregnant and having children without Dad at home. Which has been the arguement. It is about having some quiet one on one time with the family they have. It would have helped if for the last 17 years while my Husband's son was 1-18-he could have had time loving and playing with his son and forging a relationship and bond with him. It can't be done in a booth for 1 hour or in a room of 100 people and guards. It is unfair to the families. The old parents and grandparents that can bare the thought of visiting in rooms of people where they can't hold and hug them. These are human beings that need close contact and family bonds. We lose when we don't try to keep families in tact. The children end up in trouble because they are missing the father influence and love.
This would be beneficial to all, inmates need family bonding and having an incentive such as this, would promote less violence in the prisons.
