We the undersigned call on the Armed Services Committee recommend for a resolution to vote for H.R 1178 to amend title 10, United States Code, to extend military commissary and exchange store privileges to veterans with a compensable service-connected disability and to their dependants, to include Gold Star (immediate) Families.
Disabled Veterans & Gold Star Families Commissary and Exchange Store Benefits Act - Permits a veteran with any compensable service-connected disability (and the veteran's dependants) to include Gold Star Families to use commissary and exchange stores on the same basis as a member of the Armed Forces entitled to retired or retainer pay.
We can not afford to have this Bill once again die after is it placed into the Subcommittee for Military Pers. Each time it goes there it's forgotten. I urge all Disabled Vets to write your Congressman, Senators, leaders of the FRA, VFW, and American Legion etc. Many voices will be heard.
See H.R 1178, There are 60 members on the House Committee on Armed Services. Make it a point to contact one of them and urge the importance of this Bill. GovTrack.us is another good site for locating current status & info.

This bill costs the public $0.00 and increases MWR funds due to increased participation. and will eventually lower prices due to increased buying power.
During these hard times it would be beneficial to our many Disabled Veterans, especially those who are unemployed or in retraining programs
My name is Angel Anderson-Zinkand and served 10 years in the US Army. I also have a service connected disability and am a gold star family member. I currently work on a military installation and would certainly shop there if I was given back the privileges that we're taken away when I got out of the army. Ten years may not be 20 but it was certainly a significant amount of time and I believe should be entitled to those privileges.
I am a disabled Vet and it would be a great help to us to be able to visit the Commissary and Exchange Store and maybe the clothing exchange.
Thank You.
Father Died of Agent Orange something they knew would cripple and kill. we grew up rarely seeing our father our kids some of them never got to meet their Hero grandpa. Not only should be award some privileges but we should all have a life time of Active Duty Dependent Status and privileges not just our mothers and we should all get money damages not just our mothers for the loss of life and loss of our dear beloved fathers who gave their entire lives to our nation. While Civilians Played ball with their dads went hunting, hiking camping and many other things we could only watch if we could bear it and wonder if we'd ever see our dads home alive again and wonder would he be a whole person if he did come home. Our Children many never even knew their grandpa so while so many get to enjoy and spoil their grand kids we don't get that enjoyment.
We are the proud and grieving family of a fallen soldier and we feel all Gold Star Parents should be included in Veteran's priviledges, because, after all, our veteran died for their country...
I strongly feel that we as veterans deserve the right to have the privileges that the military today have. I fought in Iraq just as they did and was injured. It was not my choice to leave the military, It was the doctors. I would still be in the fight if it was up to me so why take away my privileges just for that. We need these because the money I live on is not enough and so we need to have the same privilege's.
