STOP THE SLAUGHTER OF OUR AMERICAN HORSES AND PASS S.1176
S.1176 End the transportation of our American Horses to Canada and Mexico for inhumane slaughter.
A bill to amend the Horse Protection Act to prohibit the shipping, transporting, moving, delivering, receiving, possessing, purchasing, selling, or donation of horses and other equines to be slaughtered for human consumption, and for other purposes.
Besides the fact that the FDA has said that horse meat is toxic and unfit for human consumption the slaughter process is inhuman.

It has been associated with debilitating conditions in humans and it is absolutely not permitted for use in food-producing animals.
99 percent of horses that started in California last year raced on bute, according to Daily Racing Form. Bute is banned in the United States and Canada for horses intended for the food chain. That?s a permanent ban.The new FDA regulations approved on Feb 13, 2003 include as well phenylbutazone, aka bute, deemed this drug toxic and cancer causing for human consumption.
